About this mod

This mod provides a solution to the incompatibility issues between the two popular mods, A Tale of Two Wastelands and New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open, so that both mods can be used at the same time. With this mod, you will now be able travel between the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave Desert while also using New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open.

PREFACE
This is a Tale of Two Wastelands Mod, and requires A Tale of Two Wastelands.

However, although it is intended as a work around for the compatibility issue with New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open, this mod actually DOES NOT require New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open! It will work perfectly fine with any other Freeside mods, or with plain old vanilla Freeside, as this mod circumvents the compatibility issues between TTW and Freeside mods by allowing you to Fast Travel directly to the TTW Train Station from the comfort of the Lucky 38!

You can use this mod as a convenience mod to skip traveling through Freeside altogether, and go directly to the Train Station from the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite!

THE ISSUE
The current version of A Tale of Two Wastelands, version 3.2.2., still lists New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open as "Incompatible" due to the fact that both mods modify the Freeside world space, and the conflict is caused by the fact that Freeside Open makes the TTW Union Train Station completely inaccessible, meaning if you're using Freeside Open, once you travel to the Mojave desert you will be stranded there forever with no way back to the Capital Wasteland!

I searched and searched, but was unable to find a working solution. A few year old posts on the TTW forums claim there is a patch that addresses this issue, but it's either since been deleted or lost, or no longer works with current versions of both mods, and the .ESP that I downloaded that supposedly merges the conflicting nav meshes didn't work at all for my game.

So, this is a simple work around for those of us who wish to use Freeside Open with A Tale of Two Wastelands, whilst avoiding breaking the immersion by resorting to console commands. Now, you will be able to travel between the conflicting worlds with the convenience of scripted terminals!

THE WORK AROUND
This mod updates the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite Terminal, as well as the TTW Union Station Terminal to allow your character to book passage from the Lucky 38 directly to the Train Station, and back again, without having to travel through Freeside, as the station door from Freeside ceases to exist with Freeside Open installed. This way, you can use the Terminal inside the Lucky 38 Suite to fast travel directly to the Union Station Train platform, and back again, bridging the gap between the two mods so that players using Freeside Open are no longer stranded in the Mojave Desert!

Using the mod should be self explanatory, with a few notes.

Step 1 - Access the new "Lucky 38 All Access Terminal".

Step 2 - Connect the Union Station Online Network.

Step 3 - Don't forget to "buy" your ticket, courtesy of my current character Minerva, who found herself stranded in the Mojave Desert and decided to engineer a way out! Who needs console commands breaking the game?

Step 4 - Once you've Fast Traveled to Union Station, you're all set to go! If you forgot to "buy" your ticket, no worries. The terminals still work just the same and will still dispense train tickets, albeit with some added features that allow Fast Traveling back to the Lucky 38.

Step 5 - When returning from the Capital Wasteland, you MUST use the Train Station Terminal to Fast Travel back to the Lucky 38. This is because the conflict between TTW and Freeside Open means the doors back to Freeside will not work. If you try to leave via the Train Station doors back to Freeside, you will end up in FAILSide. (see pictures)

However, don't freak out! ALL IS NOT LOST! FAILSide will not bug or crash your game, or anything like that. In fact, you can explore FAILSide if you want. There's just not much to see there and it's kind of a boring place. You can then either return to the Train Station and use the Terminal to Fast Travel back to the Lucky 38, or you can still use your Pip-Boy to Fast Travel out of FAILSide with no repercussions!

NOTES AND BUGS
As I literally just said in the previous paragraph, you CANNOT exit back into Freeside from the Train Station, because with Freeside Open installed, the door back to Freeside simply leads to FAILSide. You must use the Train Station Terminals to Fast Travel back to the Lucky 38. OR . . . if you're the absolutely defiant type, fine, go to FAILSide. And from there you can Fast Travel wherever you want.

Secondly - If you use the Train Station terminal to Fast Travel to the Lucky 38 Penthouse, where Mr. House or Yes Man resides on the big monitor, keep in mind that your companions will follow you, although they are not supposed to be there (remember, companions are not allowed into that room by default). This is not really a problem, except to say that if you access the elevator, it still gives you the option to take the elevator back to that exact same room, the Lucky 38 Penthouse. If you do this (and why would you? You're literally already there . . . ) it will trigger the script that makes your companion Wait in place while you go and talk to Mr. House or Yes Man, meaning you might just forget you left them there. Never fear. If your companion suddenly disappears because you decided to go to the Lucky 38 Penthouse twice in a row (for no apparent reason), they will be waiting for you in the Penthouse.

That's about it I think. Here's hoping this mod proves useful to someone. Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out some of my other mods!
