**VERSION 2.0 RELEASED (2019/10/12)** Version 2.0 released! Hit reactions now feel more responsive, more creatures added, player can optionally also react (experimental, kind of buggy), new anti-stunlock mechanic and more. I want to thank Asurah for helping me with player hit reaction animations. Unfortunately the problem couldn't be resolved but big thanks anyway. Check MCM for new settings.
It does add a lot of immersion but it's really unbalanced in terms of difficulty without more tweaking. You can stunlock a lot of NPCs that would've otherwise put a lot more bullets in you.
I agree, it's a really fun mod tho. You can use the MCM to make it stun you more but either way it does make enemies less spongey which also makes them a lot easier to kill
Is there a way to lessen the effect this mod has on the player or disable it permanently? I've tried to disable but it only lasts for the session, which seems like until you die or quit game.
baffling that this is enabled by default, what a horrid setting. thanks for the tip tho i fixed it and now my game feels much fairer not getting stunned for 30 minutes because i was hit with a raider's shotgun shell
This mod causes a stagger when you shoot an enemy (Or optionally if the player is shot), whereas Awesome Crippling Effects disables their limbs or otherwise causes status effect once you actually cripple them.
Seriously can't play the game without this mod installed anymore. I always come back to grab this mod whenever i get the urge to play fnv. I always use mods that make the combat brutally difficult and with this installed the game feels much more balanced. 1+++++++++++
I don't know how you pulled this off good sir but it is awesome.
I do have 2 suggestions if you're open to them.
Trying to tweak it to seem natural without getting into a constant "target is reacting" or "stun lock" situation.
Something occurred to me that might make it easier to get those results.
could you add options so it only triggers on critical hits? Cause this seems perfect place to put something like this.
Also I think your mod takes "dmg" into consideration but it would be nice if I could tweak that a bit. So say I shoot someone with a 22 pistol.. they might not react but if I hit them with a 44mag they would definitely react (if they're not dead)
So an option slider for say dmg over 33% of total HP causes a reaction.
anyway love the mod though, It's funny to shoot someone in the leg, and then Finnish them off with a headshot when they're on 1 knee.. BAMF
@fcmem Yes, Yes, YES! This is exactly what I thought.
I tried the default settings but I just stun-lock them with every shot, I literally couldn't lose. I've been tweaking the settings for a few play sessions now to get a balance but it feels like it's a set value no matter what I set it to, every 5 shots they will react type thing, so I can almost count down to what shot they will react to.
As soon as I started tweaking the settings my first thought was... this needs to have an option to react only when it's a critical or crippling hit, and/or if it drains **% of their total HP poll.
So I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of this, these would be fantastic additions.
Although it's been nearly a year since you posted your original comment so you probably won't see this, but if you do I would be very interested to know what settings you went with in the end to get a good balance?
I'm doing an ultra-hard playthrough and I'm struggling to get a balance, I'd like it to be quite random but I can't seem to get it like that in the settings. But maybe I'm just not setting it correctly so I'd be interested to know what you went with.
Hi korri123, I have a question but first I wanted to say thank you for this mod.
My question is with tweaking the settings, I left it as default to start and it made combat ultra-easy, basically, I just stun-locked everything with the first shot and then every repeating shot so I couldn't lose a gunfight. I've tried tweaking the settings to get a balance where they react occasionally and feel like it's random but I can't seem to get a good balance so I wanted to ask your advice, please.
I've managed to reduce it so I'm not stun-locking them and instead only a few extra reactions more than vanilla, let's say I fire 20 shots into the chest of an enemy, they will react 4 or 5 times. But it feels like it's a set value, like they will always react every 5th shot, it doesn't feel random if that makes sense. If I shot the next enemy with 20 shots exactly the same, they would also react 4 or 5 times, instead of randomly so maybe the next enemy reacts 8 times and then the next enemy only 2 or 3 times.
I just wondered if there's any way for it to be more randomized? Maybe I'm just badly configuring it :)

It lasts twice as long on the player as it does on everyone else.
