Okay, I tried to port this to FO3, and I even managed to add custom textures to the acog mesh in Blender, but I'm unsure how to export the texture as a dds. Any advice?
As I mentioned in reply to your DM, I don't think it's possible to create DDS textures directly in Blender. I use an image editing program like Photoshop or Gimp. You may need to download a plugin to allow the program to load and save DDS files.
I wanted to use this in Fallout 3, but since it doesn't contain the textures, I guess this will be a regrettable pass. It's a real pity too, because the sights look real nice.
This is an awesome resource mod. I took the pistol rds and made nifskope textures for a handgun pack and set them up as 9mm scope mods. Everything works perfectly so far and I was able to cowitness with the sights. literally just wanted to make a rds for handguns and it took me maybe an hour. This is top tier stuff. I really appreciate the effort.
I'm thinking of merging the ACOG and Red Dot on top of each other like is done in real life sometimes: [https://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/images2500x2500/trijicon_ta31_d_100549_4x32_acog_dual_illuminated_1365946.jpg]
And I was wondering if its possible to use both by way of the True Iron Sights Off/On setting. With True Iron Sights On it should view through the ACOG and with True Iron Sights Off it should view above through the Red Dot. Would that be possible? I'm not too experienced with the NifSkope Nodes but I do know that True Iron Sights Off raises the view above the Sights Node.
Hey there, I made a mod using these assets, thought you might want to see it. Fully credited of course, thanks for the awesome model and tutorial video! Model 933 - A Custom Marksman Carbine
I am not tech savvy enough to know how to use this to make my own red dot sights. Is there a resource i can look at or any youtube videos that will allow me to figure out how to do this?
I released a very barebones tutorial a few months back. I don't have the link handy at the moment, but if you browse through my User Files, you should be able to find it. It's called Tammer's Guide to NIF-Bashing. Hopefully that will help.get you started.
Jokerine has released some beginner tutorials as well. They deal with the Blender basics, but are about making armor rather than weapons. The idea is the same, but it may be awkward to follow if you're trying to do something else.
i am currently using this on a mod that i am working on good job. by the way how did you manage to make the textures not to stretch when editing the meshes?
I don't really know how to describe it, just that when you load the mesh into Blender, don't modify the faces. Don't highlight and move any vertices, don't scale anything (unless you scale the entire mesh at the same time). Only modify the parts that absolutely need to be modified and leave everything else untouched. That way, any texture stretching you get will be minimized.

I don't want to be rude, after all.
