DESCRIPTION
This mod adds a re-configured fully-automatic variant of the Combat Shotgun from Fallout 3 to the game.
The design of the Combat Shotgun from Fallout 3 always bothered me with how the drum mag is fitted so far forward on the gun. As any firearms enthusiast will tell you, this wastes a lot of space - giving the weapon a greater overall length, but leaving it with a ridiculously short barrel (by my estimation, only 6-8" or so) which in turn makes for poor accuracy. So, I decided to fix it.
I took the base game mesh and chopped it up until the magazine was placed behind the handguard, like on any proper firearm. I also moved the charging handle onto the bolt itself, and re-aligned the iron sights so that they're actually useable in New Vegas, before converting the mesh to use the Assault Carbine's animations. This mod features new textures that I made by cloning the base-game ones, and then editing them so that everything lines up properly with the new configuration. Please be aware: The drum mag clips through the player's hand, but it's not really that noticeable in first-person.
Gameplay-wise, the Combat Shotgun is now fully automatic, like it was in the original isometric Fallout games, and is chambered for 20 Ga. shells. Its stats are otherwise pretty much identical to the vanilla Combat Shotgun from Fallout 3, and it can be repaired with either itself or a Riot Shotgun. Currently, there are no mods implemented, but that may change with future updates.
LOCATION
The weapon can be purchased from the Gun Runners, Mick's secret inventory, or found in the same loot drops as the Riot Shotgun. Of course, if you're feeling lazy, you can always use the following console command (Substitute ## with the number of the mod in your load order):
player.AddItem ##000ADE 1 ;Gives 1 Automatic Combat Shotgun
INSTALLATION
Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located) and then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.
