For anyone who's just starting New California for the first time, this house is in a good location that you can get to not too long after leaving the vault. By the time I left the vault, and then the first major stop outside the vault where you spend the night, I was heavily over-encumbered, and this was a good place, with all the amenities, to be able to hole up and stash some supplies.
Came here from your Goodsprings house mod. I know you’re gonna hate me for asking (sorry!) but would it be possible to convert this for just FNV? I respect that it is exclusive for New California but I am curious. I could probably do it by copy+pasting the exterior somewhere in the Mojave and duplicating the interior cell and then simply deleting the references to the house in New California via FNVEdit but before I do all that I want to know how NC works. Is it an esm? It runs off of an exe as I understand so i’m not sure how I could do this. Also, are any items / objects used added by NC or is it just in NC? Like is it a NC house because it’s in NC or is it a NC house because it also uses NC assets? I might have to remove the radio but other than that do you know if there are a lot of NC references or just worldspace? The scripts for the barber menu and stuff; do they reference “the player” in general or is there a NC specific character ID? It’s just so pretty and I would be willing to go thru all that work for it. Don’t feel obligated to convert it though if you aren’t interested - i’m just asking if you think it would be possible if I wanted to do it on my own.
lol i don't hate you for asking no worries! i plan on converting it for FNV usage at some point after i add more features to it NC is an esm file yeah, a good bit of assets in my mod are from NC so it would sort of be a pain with converting. most of the scripts in the mod are fine for converting (for the barber menu one it's just "showbarbermenu") and i actually encourage using my assets as a learning experience. if you want to try converting it or seeing how it all works, feel free! i'm probably going to convert it soon-ish, but if you get to it first details are below
for details about each thing reliant on NC.. • radio tuned into Deth 98.1 • nuka-girl comic in kitchen • paintings above bed and stove • newspaper on end table by bed • bragg's hat texture on "hat stand" container by front door • vaultsuit by front door using "Vault 18" texture • neon heart sign in bathroom • exterior worldspace and some surrounding items (shrubs, Black Bear sign, etc) • navmeshes in house and exterior; these would need to be fixed when placed in NV
Oh, thank you very much! I may look into it when I get to my pc. It seems like something I could put together. Any removed NC assets could be replaced with similar items from NV after i’ve removed all traces of NC content. Navmesh is no biggie either so I think I might try this out eventually. I’ll update you if I get around to it! :-) You’re a very talented home modder - keep up the awesome work!
Yay I did it! There is a script in FNVEdit called ReportMasters that tells me exactly what links this .esp to NC. I can send you the .esp if you're interested. I havn't done anything except remove the dependency. There will be some empty spots (missing coffee maker / neon sign / etc) but I will fill those in later when I have time :-)
not sure exactly where that is, but it's in Black Bear Lake! it's easy to spot, but if you had to lower your graphics and can't find it by default a map marker is visible in your Pip-Boy you can't travel to it immediately but the location is shown
