Description

I've always been a big fan of Sniper Rifles, especially in open world games. And wanted to make a Sniper Rifle that fulfilled all of my sniper dreams in NV...

This adds the M82A1 .50 cal. to the wasteland, with 4 custom made textures/skins, and 3 mods:

Available textures:

  • Stock (H-259 Barrett Bronze, made it with the factory color, some of those beasts come out of the factory with, IRL.)
  • Desert (Suits the Mojave very well.)
  • Urban  (An urban styled texture, - for the ruins. Especially nice, if you find yourself in the D.C. ruins, through TTW.)
  • High Roller Edition (Golden, just for the lolz. You are in New Vegas after all, what did you expect? ;) )

Mods:

  • Suppressor (Reduces weapon noise. But does NOT make the weapon completely silent.)
  • Ultra-Long Range Scope (Makes you able to zoom as far in as the NV engine allows.)
  • Light Weight Parts (Reduce weight by 5.)

The Stock version, and mods, are available at Gun Runners (at Vendortron) after you reach lvl 15. Or if you want to dance with deathclaws before lvl 15, I've added one to Dead Wind Cavern too. Good luck! If the stuff isn't at Vendortron, when you are at lvl 15, or load the game, just wait 2-3 days, so it can restock.

The different skins, are available through crafting recipes, at any workbench. You just need the Stock version to start with. And a Weapon Repair Kit. I did add the Weapon Repair Kit requirement, because what you actually do is to craft a completely new weapon. So else it would be way to easy to get your weapon up to almost full health all the time. You need to detach any mods BEFORE changing skin, else you going to lose them!

The textures are all in 4K. I've added 2K textures, if you get performance issues with the 4K ones. - Just overwrite them.

Optional files:

Penetration

I've made an optional file that adds penetration to the M82, so you can pierce your enemies with ease. And allows the bullet to pass through several enemies at once. The explosive round doesn't get affected by this change.

AR Scanner

I've made an optional file that adds the AR Scanner (West Tek Augmented Reality Scanner) from Project Nevada to the rifle, so you can real-time analyse your target from distance before you pop them. I've added a laser pointer to the rifle as well, in this version, for a bit more immersive effect. - So the models from the main file should be overwritten, if asked. Project Nevada, and Project Nevada - Equipment are required for it to work. You can use this version with the other optional files.

1st Recon Edition

For the sniper purists out there, I've made an optional file, which aims to give a more "realistic" sniper experience. And when I say realistic, I mean as realistic as I can make it in NV. But it should have the basic principles in place; such as bullet drop, and travel time. So you have to aim above your target, from long distances. And try to anticipate their moment, and where they might be when the bullet lands... Tracers are included in this version, for visual reference.

Unfortunately because of the way NV traits projectile properties, I'm not able to add the penetration feature to this version. So you just have to choose. Neither am I able to make the explosive round get affected by these changes, without changing it so that every weapon that uses it will be as well.

It goes without saying that this will make sniping a much more difficult challenge. So don't come to me if you can't hit the broadside of a barn, in this version. Just use VATS, it seems to operate as it normally would.

You'll need the main file for all optional files to work. And don't use the Penetration, and the 1st Recon Edition together!

Requirements

Gun Runners' Arsenal DLC

In the AR Scanner version; Project Nevada, and Project Nevada - Equipment. If you want to use the AR Scanner version, with other mods that adds items/gear to the AR Scanner form list from PN, you can use a merged patch. (I didn't add the forms through script injection, because I found out that you could still use the AR Scanner even if you did uninstall the AR Scanner version from the game. This was the only way to make sure that you could uninstall this version safely, without having to reinstall the main mod. So I added the forms to the form list through overwrite instead.)

Recommended mods

Though not required, it's highly recommended to download The Weapon Mod Menu so you can attach/detach mods freely.

It's not a mod, but I recommend to ensure you have set Actor Fade to max in the Fallout NV Launcher so you can snipe your enemies from as far as possible. ;)

Compatibility

Should be compatible with most mods.

Changelog

Main file:

2.2 Fixed the new suppressor textures I made. They became too bright under different lights. (For me anyway, with the ENB I use.)
2.1 Replaced the Stock color, with the actual factory color code, some models leaves the factory with: "H-259 Barrett Bronze". (It's a minor change, but I was just trying to match it by eye before.)
2.0 Revamped all the textures to look better. Made the Stock texture brighter. Improved the normal maps, for better glossy, metallic effect/feel.

1.1 Fixed a bug that did that the M82 did not always spawn in Dead Wind Cavern.

Barrett M82A1 Sniping Redone - Penetration:

1.1 Fixed a dirty edit I made, that led to an red exclamation mark, If you only had the "Light Weight Parts" mod installed on the stock version of the weapon.

Barrett M82A1 Sniping Redone - AR Scanner:

1.1 Removed a duplication from the long scope only urban model, I wrongly made instead of the laser pointer, that should have been added.
29-11-2019 Added AR Scanner version. (Read description.)
