Corrects for several different game engine flaws that cause sound anomalies when opening and closing containers and doors.

The problem
Most doors and many containers have a number of game engine issues which lead to problems with the playback of their corresponding opening and/or closing sound effects.  Issues like the sounds playing twice or three times when they should only play once, or the sounds playing at the wrong time, or two different sounds playing simultaneously, or the sounds playing from the center of the speakers when they should be originating from their door/container.  It's a minor issue, but one that piles up, because during gameplay, one is constantly opening doors and containers.

The solution
Doors and containers should only be playing one given sound effect at a time (with a tiny handful of exceptions), and that sound effect should sound like it is actually coming from its source.  So this mod aims to make that happen.

V1.9:
  • The double sounds heard when swinging melee weapons while crouched (and in 1st-person) are now also prevented.
  • Allowed for the circumstance of unlocking doors/containers with keys.  Previously, the closing sound would not play.
  • Added another missing container.

V1.8: The double looting sounds typically heard when looting weapons from corpses are now also prevented.

v1.7: 
  • Fixed a bug that could allow double sounds when two different container types near each other shared the same sounds.
  • Circumvented a NVSE limitation that would randomly result in the mod not working until reloading a save.
v1.6b: Stability update to circumvent NVSE losing track of string variables.
V1.6: Added support for animated terminals.  These were subject to the same flaws as doors and containers.
v1.4: Fixed a typo that allowed one door to continue making double sounds.  Added a check to watch out for animated doors that were used as cell transitions.  Overhauled the system used for containers with special positional sound nodes.  This was promoting CTDs before.
v1.3: Fixed a console error.
v1.2: Fixed a bug that could cause a console error loop.

v1.1: Pinned down the probable cause of CTDs.  Solution is incomplete but will work fine for now.


Notes:
  • This mod requires JIP LN NVSE version 54.40 or later.  As of this writing, that is the very latest version.
  • This mod changes no vanilla entries, and should be transparently compatible with any mods that may have tinkered with doors or containers.
  • Testing is likely over.  No further bugs expected, esoteric or otherwise.
