The problem
Most doors and many containers have a number of game engine issues which lead to problems with the playback of their corresponding opening and/or closing sound effects. Issues like the sounds playing twice or three times when they should only play once, or the sounds playing at the wrong time, or two different sounds playing simultaneously, or the sounds playing from the center of the speakers when they should be originating from their door/container. It's a minor issue, but one that piles up, because during gameplay, one is constantly opening doors and containers.
The solution
Doors and containers should only be playing one given sound effect at a time (with a tiny handful of exceptions), and that sound effect should sound like it is actually coming from its source. So this mod aims to make that happen.
V2.2:
- Added support for suitcases, which are now animated (perhaps inadvertently) after having their mesh corrected in SciRika's New Vegas Mesh Improvement Mod (NVMIM).
- Added support for the unique meshes found in Semitransparent Door Glass (plugin version).
- Added support for several objects that had previously been overlooked, such as picket fences and the Eat-O-Matic.
V2.1:
- Main new feature is support for the following animation mods: NV Animation For Not Animated Containers, and 4K Animated Metal Box Replacer. The support is completely transparent and does not overwrite anything from those mods. The closing sounds were carefully re-timed in order to match the animations in a way similar to vanilla animated containers. (See video at the top.)
- A config file is now provided in order to give the user a way of telling the mod whether they have installed any of the supported animated replacers. If you use either of these replacers, make appropriate changes in the config file.
Notes:
- This mod requires JIP LN NVSE version 55.56 or later.
- This mod changes basically no vanilla entries, and should be transparently compatible with any mods that may have tinkered with doors or containers.
