This mod adds a Plasma Cutter Energy Pistol heavily inspired by the classic weapon from the Dead Space Franchise. The weapon has two firing modes, and does a whole lot of limb damage. Requires NVSE and the JIP LN Plugin, as well as Lonesome Road, Old World Blues, and Gun Runners Arsenal. Compatible with Armed to the Teeth - New Vegas.

With the recent release of SuBNeRoCL's amazing Live Dismemberment mod, I decided that this would be a good time to go ahead and have a shot at bringing one of my favorite weapons from any franchise into the world of Fallout. The Plasma Cutter is a pretty iconic weapon from the Dead Space franchise, and although this weapon mod is not intended to be an exact copy, the design is heavily inspired by it. Anyone who has played Dead Space will know that the removal of limbs from the enemies is pretty important in that game, hence, this weapon has a massive boost to limb damage, allowing it to cripple them easily, and if you're using Live Dismemberment, you have a good chance of blowing them off in no time. Players of Dead Space 2 will also remember that the Plasma Cutter had two firing modes, and the muzzle part of the weapon would rotate when switching between them, well thanks to the magic that is the JIP LN NVSE Plugin, that effect is replicated in this mod. I would like to thank FalloutKid14 for allowing me to use some sounds from his great mod All Weapon Sounds Overhaul, go check it out if you like the sound the plasma cutter makes, the rest of the sounds in his pack are just as awesome. 


The weapon can be found in Vault 34, in the medical wing. In Dead Space 2, the Plasma Cutter is obtained by ripping it out of some medical equipment and re-purposing it as a weapon, and that is replicated in this mod. Within the medical wing of Vault 34, as shown in the Images tab, a new Auto-Doc has been added. This Auto-Doc has an experimental attachment added to it, if your character has a repair skill of over 40, and a science skill of over 65, you will be able to rip out the attachment and make a weapon from it, adding the Plasma Cutter to your arsenal. 


The Plasma Cutter has two firing modes, as can be seen in the mod Images, vertical and horizontal. The vertical firing mode shoots three laser beam projectiles, modeled after the projectile of the Plasma Cutter in Dead Space. These projectiles will do about 13 damage each, and have a medium spread. The weapon uses 2 Small Energy Cells per shot in this firing mode. 
The Horizontal firing mode will fire a blade of energy out of the weapon, again as you can see in the images above. This is a singe projectile, and will do about 50 damage, but requires 5 Small Energy Cells per shot. If anyone has any advice they want to give on balance, please let me know in the comments.
To switch to between firing modes simply press the B button. 



The weapon has two optional modifications, one that increases damage by 3, and one that increases the capacity of the weapon by 6. These mods can be crafted at a workbench with Scrap Metal and Scrap Electronics, replicating the upgrading via power nodes seen in the Dead Space games. 



I would highly recommend you use this mod alongside SuBNeRoCL's amazing Live Dismemberment mod, as that's kind of the whole reason this mod exists, and it doesn't make much sense without it. I mean, limbs will still get crippled a lot, but they'll only explode once the person you're shooting at is dead, and where's the fun in that...? Oh, and because I know everyone and their mum is going to ask, the armor in the screenshots is the Colossus XV BOS Replacer, by daejones
This mod is compatible with Armed to the Teeth - New Vegas.

If you encounter any obvious bugs while recording I would really appreciate it if you would let me know and give me a chance to fix them before you upload the video. I understand that this is not always possible due to time constraints and whatnot, but if it's at all possible that'd be sweet.
