Summary

Adds a new trait to the game, which bestows the Time Lord's ability to Regenerate from Doctor Who. This started as a re-implementation of the Nuclear Anomaly perk from Fallout 3, as a trait. This doesn't really have all that much in common with the perk anymore, but does implement most of its features in one form of another.

When the player is reduced to a certain percentage of their health (as defined in the ini config file), or crosses a specific threshold in any one of their hardcore needs or radiation (as defined in the ini config file), they will enter regeneration mode. In regeneration mode, health will be quickly restored, and needs and radiation will be swiftly reduced. The player can still die however, preventing the regeneration from occurring. After a period of roughly 30 seconds of increasing visual effects, the player will immediately have their health and needs fully restored (if they have not been already), and the regeneration process will begin. The player will have their appearance changed, either through the race menu, or randomized to match the face of an NPC (thanks to JIP LN NVSE). If the random option is chosen in the ini, all NPC's in the game which use races that are selectable by the PC, are loaded into 2 lists (one for female faces, and one for male faces). This works with any mods you are using, so this should be fully compatible with appearance mods, and give you better faces if you are using them, and quest mods, which will give you a larger variety of faces to draw from. The players face will then be set to a random selection from one of these lists. lf the race menu option is chosen, the player can change their gender themselves. If the random option is chosen, the players gender will be randomized according to settings set within the ini file. There is a setting that controls the percentage chance of the Time Lord changing gender, and also one that controls whether that percentage chance should be based of the players current or original gender. This makes it possible to simulate being more likely to become a specific gender if you wish. If the player gender is changed, all gender specific perks (including those in Tale of Two Wastelands) will be switched with gender appropriate counterparts. The final step is the optional randomization of the players SPECIAL attributes. This system is somewhat unique, and works on the principle that the player shouldn't become worse, only different, after regenerating. The player will always have the same total number of SPECIAL points in their attributes, however they may be in very different places.

Finally there are a variety of options for controlling the number of regenerations. The total number can be directly configured (default 12), and the player can optionally start the game have already regenerated a random number of times (with configurable lower and upper limits) in the past (they will be informed of how many times through a message box when taking the trait). When the player uses their final regeneration one of two things can happen. Either the trait will permanently shut itself down, or the player will be able to enter degeneration mode. Degeneration mode has the same requirements as Regeneration mode, however it drains the players health and increased their needs and radiation. If the player is not able to stabilize their health and needs outside of the health percentage and needs threshold within 10 seconds, they will continue degenerating (the window refreshes every 10 seconds). If they die while degenerating they will explode, just like Nuclear Anomaly.

Features

  • New Trait that lets you recover from death
  • Optional Special Randomization
  • Optional Appearance Randomization
  • Optional Gender Randomization

Requirements & Compatibility

  • Requires version 5.1b4 of NVSE
  • Requires version 52.60 of JIP LN NVSE
  • I doubt that this should be used with Fallout Who Vegas. That does its own thing, and I'm not really sure how it works.
