Love the diner, hate the spot. There's a completely empty spot right next to the left of the tent, instead you replaced the tent with the diner. Any chance you'd ever update this? Not trying to be a hater I just don't want to remove the tent, and it's a cool mod if implemented properly since there was to be an actual diner in Novac before it got the cut.
This is an excellent mod. I just wanted to take a look but then I ended up keeping it in the game :-) This now really feels like a proper cafe, with its own NPCs, and playing nice with other vanilla and mod NPCs (e.g. FPGE and TLD). The tables outside really invite you to take a seat and rest a bit.
nice that you added it to Novac shame you added it in the WRONG PLACE!! you put it where the tent with the metal tables and chairs are and NOT i repeat NOT to the left where theres a ruined car and a HUGE fence area WITH STEPS leading up to it. you didnt even call it the right thing which would have been "Dino's" or possibly Dino Bites if you wanted to show a little respect to Jokerine but i guess calling something a funny name is the same as putting it in a good location aka too much work. the concept for the mod is good but the mod is average
What a great fitting offering. Thank you. I always disliked that large semi-empty space in that area (the tent didn't really feel enough in my view). Now Novac feels more like the hub town it is supposed to be. It actually feels more jovial just from the mere red colouring of the diner alone. When I first saw the mod I thought that it was such a great and perfectly coherent idea to have that edification there, and then I read the comments that mention it was actually originally planned that this diner should exist in that very spot. No wonder it feels just right. Well, thank you for placing it back there. Novac feels more alive just by this simple addition.
Funnily enough, this diner model from Fallout 3 is actually what Obsidian first used in the pre-alpha build when creating Novac, except there weren't any sort of merchants inside. If you even look at this one spot where the tent is in the final game, inside the GECK, it still uses the original "diner" codename for the area.
Yeah, i guess that's why the modder put it here. must've felt very fitting. It certainly wasn't uncommon in real life back then for there to be just dinners, well, out there randomly in far off areas near highways. Was pretty lucrative.
The Meshes for the static objects for NDLetterA & NDLetterD are missing from the BSA file. I only saw the red triangle for the NDLetterD in the Geck however. I made this play nice with Novac Reborn and it fits in very well. Also I went into the GECK and made Dot the NPC a vendor to sell some basic food food.
There is* a npc named (Dot) in the dinner. However the dialogue for the NPC in FNVedit shows a null reference link for the quest that it should be attached to. She is not setup properly for her to function as a merchant. She has only a vendor AI package, no linked merchant container, and her dialogue is not set up to purchase items or say goodbye. I guess the answer your looking for is no?, technically.
Just FYI for anyone it not compatible out the box with Novac Reborn it does need some minor GECK editing to be fully compatible. The asphalt base the store rest on needs minor height adjusting, a couple pieces of the concrete curb/wall for Reborn needs deleting in the back of the dinner, a bush in the back needs dropping to ground level, & all the original dinner tent parts & clutter needs deleting for this to take it's place. And the outhouse needs re-positioning to not block the back stairway.
This is probably the best mod for Novac that has ever been made. I've always wanted to do this myself, but I'm lazy and never did it. Anyways, great work.
