Hi guys, does anyone know how to fix this? I installed the mod but I get "error in script 18000CBF" "Failed to resolve command with opcode 2201" "failed to parse script data" "File: Economy Overhaul.esp Offset: 0x003d Command: eval".
I've got the full suite of someguy and overseer mods, aswell as famine + economy overhaul. and this does a great job of balancing out the amount of money you get.
It may no longer be supported and the author may be recommending other mods to "get better results" but for the record I think this still holds up and is brilliant If anything you wanna add Famine and HNVSA on top of it
Its really good, the only issue is with very niche cases that the formula ends up not really working out. For example, the price of reinforced mk1 vs reinforced mk2 combat armor was about 200 caps, so I never even had a reason to put off buying some of the highest tier armor. Additionally, it makes most of the best weapons in the game cheap enough to buy at least 5 - 10 levels earlier. On the whole its approach is great and adresses a lot of the fundemental issues with the games economy. I imagine its just very difficult to try to tweak this or rather they may have little interest in doing so.
I'm using it alongside Famine and I think it's good but with 50% setting instead of default 25%. Otherwise stuff is just too cheap to buy, which makes game easier instead of hard. Remember that cheaper stuff like cigs is not affected due to how formula works. So you make the same amount of money from it + quest rewards, but stuff is cheaper to buy. So 50% seems like a sweet spot.
The reason why I no longer support this mod is because it’s inevitable in all games that the player will become rich, regardless of how the economy is set up. That’s because the player will always adjust their playstyle to minimise the amount of items they need to buy and maximise the items they have to sell. It’s just part of the gameplay loop. The vanilla game is setup to have cash sinks in the form of late-game armour and weapons, especially the GRA uniques. Because this mod lowers the value of those items, it makes the end-game economy state easier to reach, which is why I don’t really think the concept is that good anymore. The problem is that valuable stuff is just too common in the game. Famine addresses that better.
Adding weight to money could be maybe work as a way to balance the amount of cash the player carries. A few mods do that, though properly implementing it for currencies requires some script trickery.
This mod worked fine so far for me, but suddenly stopped working and i can't find the issure, whenever it's was influenced of bug, load order, or other mod. Still recommend it though.
There must be an issue with fValueExposureMult or maybe INI settings in general. I'm trying to configure 50% price reduction instead of default 75%. But nothing seems to work, the prices are still 25%. Tried removing the mod, saving, re-installing and reloading - doesn't help. But when I completely remove the mod - prices revert to vanilla properly.
Same here, Im wondering if maybe it needs an older version of the esp to work?
EDIT: You have to put the ini and metaini in a folder named config. The override optional file comes with it but if you dont have that you will have to create one.
I've been using Economy Overhaul and Famine together for a while now but I just noticed your comment about Famine and Harder New Vegas Strip Access being better than economy overhaul. Could you please explain how this is? They seem to do completely different things.
I tried using this mod combination instead and it feels like I'm just making too much money now, I don't think this is a good alternative tbh so I will just continue to use economy overhaul
Same. They work well together, and really improve the game. Caps now mean something, and I really do feel like a scavenger that has to sell scrap to get by sometimes.
I agree. Weird statement. The imbalance between quest/dialog economy and item economy is large. Not only you can make a lot of caps to buy implants or pass credit check, but also some items like weapon upgrades costs are too high. Reducing overall item prices makes quest rewards actually meaningful now.
Hiya! Do you know if this mod is compatible with Barter and Reputation Vendor Repair Costs by Miguick? Edit: It's not, bummer. Edit 2: Nevermind, it's kinda compatible.
Also gutted to hear you won't be supporting this anymore. Some of the changes in this are awesome, so it'd be a shame to see this mod fade away.
My bad, so it's kinda compatible. It's compatible with the item value changes, but not with the repair cost changes. So pretty much items still start at a base 200% repair cost, but it's 200% of the lower values in this mod, and they go down with Barter and Rep (Obviously).
Great mod, all of your mods, thank you for them. So I was wondering is there a way to make items more expensive to buy while not rasing the selling price? Eith with the ini, or another mod?
Thank you, I did not know this, going to edit the INI now. And again thank you for your mods they are really awesome. My PC dosen't handle F4 too well and I really like the setting of FNV, this is probably my 10th or so playthrough, and I can easily say the best yet! Beth games are my favorite, but in all their games there is way too much loot and currency to be easily obtained, changing this is imo a vital base to making the game world immersive, and the rest of your mods reaally complete the experience! Thank you again!
Does the fact that you have recently hidden https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71604 (New Vegas Economy Improved) that you will start supporting or even updating this mod again despite what the sticky says? I have been using Economy Improved and was generally happy with it for my last play-through, but I am considering switching for a new play-through.

Famine and Harder New Vegas Strip Access together do a better job of balancing the game's economy.
the idea being that all your money comes from work that you do, instead of loot.
