CHECKPOINT GARY

Description:
Checkpoint Gary features a new worldspace where the player can work as a mercenary, fighting waves of various attackers in the process. In truth, I developed this to cope with the burgeoning madness that comes with waiting for Fallout 4. Perhaps the infinite content offered by this mod will help you as well.

Installation:
Extract the contents of the data folder from the archive into your New Vegas data folder. This does NOT require the SomeguySeries.esm or DLC. It is entirely standalone.

Getting Started:
Speak with Garth, an odd merchant loitering outside Ranger Station Bravo. He will guide you to Checkpoint Gary, at which point you should enter the Command Post and speak with Captain Brydon. Inform Brydon that you'd like to begin duty, and then leave the shack. Mayhem ensues. When the attack is finished (you will receive a quest update), re-enter the shack and collect your reward. As time goes on, Checkpoint Gary will develop into a thriving community.

Regarding loot: Near Brydon's desk you'll find a footlocker called "Battlefield Loot". This collects a portion of the ammo and chems from fallen adversaries (as I quickly disable and delete them for performance). These spoils will enable you to continue fighting past the limit of what you can haul to the worldspace, so partake as needed. You earned it. NOTE: Battlefield Loot is NOT safe storage.

There is also a barracks which features a workbench, reloading bench, safe storage, and sleeping arrangements.

Feedback:
Say your piece, but don't be a dick about it.

A Warning:
You should know by now that I swear a lot. Deal with it.

This is a challenging mod. The minimum recommended level is 35. I apologize in advance for the Cazadors.

- You: Yes, you, the player who downloads and evaluates this mod. I depend on you to excoriate any failings and praise the successes.

- Bethesda, for teasing Fallout 4 in such a way that I am gripped by the delirium of anticipation, compelling me to make this plugin as a coping strategy.

FAQ's: (Since I can't sticky my own comments for some reason, I'm posting them here)

Q: Why did you upload this? I thought The Better Angels was your last mod.
A: You should understand that all my statements regarding mods should be treated with a healthy degree of skepticism. I once claimed that NVBIII would be out in fall of 2014, then May of 2015. I also "retired" once. Frankly, I was going nuts waiting for FO4, so I whipped this together to pass the time. There's still over a week to go, so I may not be done yet.

Q: I hate quest mods in general, and yours in particular. Will I enjoy this?
A: First, fuck you. Second, sure! It's not a quest mod. It's a "Hold the Line" scenario. It's "Wasteland Defense" with a "Random Encounter" style of presentation.

Q: What kind of enemies will I fight?
A: Legionaries, raiders, feral ghouls, and miscellaneous critters. If you have Wild Wasteland, there are a few more encounters that become available.

Q: Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes, so long as you're not in combat. Just speak to Garth, and he'll explain everything in eloquent fashion. His charisma is unmatched.

Q: Is this part of the Someguy Series?
A: No, but it is lore-friendly as far as I can tell. Does it make sense? Not really, but it's fun.

Q: Will you add [Insert scenario]?
A: Maybe. If you have ideas for attack scenarios, lay it on me. I will probably regret writing this.

Q: What's wrong with Garth?
A: There's nothing wrong with him. He's perfectly fine.

Q: What's wrong with you?
A: I've developed a strange tic when I watch Fallout 4 videos, but otherwise I don't know what you're talking about.

Q: Can I bring companions?
A: YES! Seriously, bring them. The outpost is undermanned, and you'll be at a disadvantage without your pals.

Q: Can I upgrade Checkpoint Gary? I want to add turrets, gumball machines, stripper poles...
A: Look, I love all those things, but I wanted to keep this simple. However, feel free to set up a Wasteland Defense or RTS town on or near the checkpoint.
EDIT: I got bored and implemented an entire town structure. It develops once you successfully defend CP Gary over time. Violence = progress!

Q: WHERE IS TEH REPAIR?!
A: You can buy repair kits from the vendors, but you'll probably have to *gasp* return to the Mojave Wasteland for serious repairs.

Q: Really, Cazadors? Why do you hate us?
A: I'm sorry, it was late, and I was drunk. I regreted it immediately when I began testing that scenario, but it's in there. I can't explain it.

Q: You're still out to get Ranger Fluffy and Mister Sparkles, aren't you?
A: What if I told you that Ranger Fluffy and Mister Sparkles were out to get you?

Q: Again with the questions - you have no respect for FAQ decorum. Where did it all go wrong?
A: It's a natural byproduct of reading comments over the years, deal with it. Oh, and I was a feral child. A drunk, howling wolf-boy, that's what I was.
Truly.

Q: TEH LOOT BOX == UNBALANCED!
A: Disable the damn thing if it freaks you out.

Q: Why is it called Checkpoint Gary?
A: Gary.

Q: Gary?
A: Gaaaaaarrrryyyy.

Q: Gary?!
A: GARY!
