Playable Ghoul Trait with perks v 1.0

This mod does not add a new race, it simply adds a trait for ghoul racial attributes.  It's designed to work with popular mods which already allow you to design a character that looks like a ghoul or even a half-ghoul.  My personal favourite is Fallout Character Overhaul.  No vanilla resources are changed by this mod for maximum compatibility

REQUIRES N.V.S.E v4.5 or later

Description

After creating your character, select the new Ghoul trait added by this mod.  It will make the following changes.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L

-2 ST
-2 CH
+1 EN
+1 LK

Radiation Healing:  Ghouls do not accumulate RADS like humans, instead all incoming radiation either from the environment or from consumables has a healing effect both to health and limbs.  The effect is proportional to the level of radiation and the character's base health, so it will scale with level.  Mods which lower the base health will have proportionally less radiation healing.  Hardcore mode - healing rate halved and no healing to limbs.

Other effects: ghouls can't drown, poison immunity, feral ghouls friendly to player until attacked.

Consumables:  Chem duration 1/2, addiction chance 1/4.  n.b.  As with Chemist, Day Tripper and Logans Loophole, the chem duration effect applies to all consumables including healing.

Two further perks are available to a character with the ghoul trait:
Level 12 - Ghoul Reaver. +25% attack and movement speed whilst being irradiated, +4 DT for five minutes after being irradiated OR consuming radiation.
Level 20 - Gamma Burst.  Once a day unleash a burst of radiation which massively increases healing rate for a short time.

Notes

Ghoul Player Trait does not modify any vanilla resources for maximum compatibility.  It has also been fully playtested for balance both in normal and hardcore modes.  I've used it side by side with quite a lot of other mods and I'm currently playing Tale of Two Wastelands with no issues.

New Vegas however was not designed with Ghoul players in mind.  Characters will still react as though you are human, e.g. Come Fly With Me quest.  Before switching to TTW, I used the half-ghoul race from Fallout Character Overhaul.  That way it's a little bit more unique and easier to explain why full ghouls might still describe your character as 'smooth-skin'.

This mod also makes the gameplay experience quite different.  Some will like it and some wont.  Changing radiation from
a hazard to a boon alters the experience of many locations.  Places like Hell's Motel become a reasonable choice for an early game player house and it has a sweet spot of 6 Rads/sec a few yards from the entrance where you can heal yourself.  You even get a couple of Feral Ghoul Reaver guards!

I've not encountered any quests that could not be progressed because of this mod, however some quests may require you to attack and kill feral ghouls to progress in a particular way.  This will turn all feral ghouls in the cell hostile as they would be for a human character.

I've tried to keep the racial attributes lore friendly based on my own experience of the Fallout world but some of it is my interpretation.  I hope it's consistent enough for most people's tastes.

n.b.  In case it needs to be said explicitly, anything which increases your radiation resistance e.g. rad-x, radiation suit, power armour, will reduce the healing effect of radiation and is otherwise pointless anyway.  You should aim to keep your radiation resistance as low as possible.

Known Issues

If you use an alternate start mod, make sure that you choose your traits AFTER designing your character and picking tag skills or some of the traits will not be registered properly.  With Roleplayers Alternative Start, if you follow the onscreen order you'll be fine.
