Hello everybody! This mod was a request for more useful medical braces, so I took the time this morning to whip up something quick. The file does not require any DLC, so it should be safe for everybody to use. Still, you should always make a backup save before installing ANY mod, in case something goes wrong.


>WHAT
This simple mod gives you the option to clean up medical braces, crutches and surgical tubing at a workbench in order to get healing versions. These new aid items (Cleaned Medical Brace, Cleaned Surgical Tubing and Cleaned Crutch, because I am not clever) are chems that will restore limb condition. The healing is not affected by perks or anything of the sort - it's a flat value that will be applied equally in and out of hardcore mode. You can also turn the aid items back into the misc versions at a workbench in a pinch.

Yes, this means you can use a crutch to heal a crippled head. Maybe just hit yourself with it to numb the pain away? Hah!

I had originally made a version that had a script attached to the misc items (see below) but I've decided to drop support for that one doe to its finickiness (I got reports of the game crashing when buying the vanilla items). The new version that is workbench-only is compatible with everything (including Tale of Two Wastelands) and is as bug-free as it gets.


>OLD SCRIPTED VERSION
In this version (now unsupported) a new script has been added to both the medical brace (there are two versions in the GECK, regular and "new" which is not used anywhere - the script was only added to the regular one) and the crutch, that will prompt the player to choose whether they want to add the regular misc items to their inventory, or clean them up so they can be used as an aid item.

>WHERE
All over! Since the mod simply adds some new crafting recipes instead of placing the new ones around the world, anywhere you can find them you can get the new healing versions. There are some in Doctor Mitchell's house, for instance.


>COMPATIBILITY?
The latest version (v2) is compatible with everything. No worries there.

If you're using the old scripted version, rather obviously, any mod that modifies the medical brace (and crutches if you're using v1b) will not be compatible. Load my mod after any others that change them and it should be all good.


>HOW
To install, extract the contents of your downloaded file to your "Steam/SteamApps/Common/Fallout New Vegas/Data" folder. Then activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp. Or you can use the Mod Manager to download the mod automatically. To uninstall, simply delete the files from your Data folder, and you're good to go. Have fun!
