Alright folks, V5 is now LIVE! An EXPLOSIVE update...
VERSION 5
- Added .esp plugin to add a Nuka Machine next to the Sunset Sarsparilla machine at the gas station in Goodsprings, and to allow for fancy explosions with multiple detailed DAMAGE STATES, shoot it up and watch it blow!
VERSION 6 I decided to darken the color of the Nuka Machine textures as these seemed too bright compared to the environment and other objects. This update is now available, and here is how the new texture looks:
WARNING, WARNING. The vending machine included IS VERY bad. With no enb it bring fps from 110 to 72 fps. With enb it went down to around 30 - 45 fps. It is easily fixed.
FIX: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzB44gUBcd60SW9vOGZhREdqUEU/view if download dies search Ojo Bueno Nuka-Cola 2K Lite Meshes PyFFI Optimised.7z
I hold no responsibility for creation of the fix or for finding it. (lol i just noticed other guys comment is near top. I assumed it was far back but nope.)
Hi, the download link for the fix (slowdown bug, bad meshes or whatever) seems to have gone down and is impossible to find online. I managed to get permissions to the original file so here it is for anybody who needs it:
hey guys I dont know if it is just me or something I am playing on TTW I know u cant get the effects of the mod but I really just like the look of it I wanted to add it into the game but every time I get close to Nuka Cola Machine in the capital wasteland it will not pop up with the textures I have manually installed it as well as use mod manger I have taken esp off and on I used archive invalidation and off I dont know what else to do does anyone know something
Could be you've put the textures in the wrong place? Or have another mod overwriting it? Or some mistake in setting up for mods? See my previous post for filepath and which texture files you'd need. The latest TTW might've changed names & path but I doubt it.
Any FO3 players wondering, yes the main texture will work as a simple replacer for FO3's nuka machine. You can just use the vendingmachine.dds texture and drop it in the following folder, which is the same filepath as in FNV: data\textures\clutter\vendingmachine.
You can also try adding the matching texture normal map: vendingmachine_n.dds, from the same folder. When testing I forgot about it and FO3's default one actually looked ok, though it may look a bit better with OJO's one. And of course same goes for TTW.
What you will find doing it this basic-replacer way is the machine will function basically like the vanilla and the vanilla's flickering panel light will still work. Also, if you use FO3's Animated Wasteland (which is meant for the vanilla model), that will actually still work with it too.
Endorsed, though personally for FO3 I settled on the one in FO3's NMC texture pack, as it's more-damaged look better fits DC's ambience, imho, but hey, choice is good.
Let me help with information on the Nuka-Cola Machine slowdown bug. As gofftiddums mentioned, it appears to be a mesh issue. I poked around online and found Ojo Bueno Nuka-Cola 2K Lite Meshes PyFFI Optimised.7z. Put these in, issue immediately fixed. Same result when I first outright deleted the offending machine.
Here are some specific issues that should help you narrow it down, tapioks. For me at least, this was only an issue with ENBs. I ran into it with both Enhanced ENB Shaders and the ENB of the Apocalypse. My consistent 60 FPS would spike down into the high 30s, low 40s. Disabling the ENB with Shift-F12 solved it, shooting me right back up to 60 FPS. Disabling the NukaCola-Ojo.esp did nothing to help the FPS drop. I could not find which ENB features conflicted, but as mentioned above, the optimized meshes fixed the problem completely. More confusing is...it isn't EVERY nuka-cola machine. Just appears to be a handful. And it seems to be an issue beyond line of sight. A machine one floor up was causing the FPS drop through a floor. Let me give you the offending machine in my case. This is inside the Bison Steve Hotel in Primm, upper floor.
Not enb. If i disable enb and look away I have 110 fps. Minute I look at it i get 72 fps. It is purely something wrong with doing edits to the vending machine.
Wait what? That download worked. Instant fix Weirdly I couldn't locate who was responsible.
So what model is the texture mobilehome01nv supposed to be for? the mobile trailer homes (long and short models) both use the car05 texture file. Changing mobilehome01nv to car05 breaks the short mobile home, some trucks and semi trailers. Investigated because I didn't quite like how the long mobile homes looked on the inside; too much the same, needs something to break up the monotone; like the semi-trailer floors.
Now, I DO really like how the short mobile homes look (without changing anything). Color could be same or different, I think the brown floor help break up the repeating texture. A lot less seizure inducing.
Another issue is, when installed normally, the windows alphas get messed up, and have a box lining where the glass should be.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone if anyone can help me figure out this problem. I added this vending machine a long time ago and have since uninstall it due to the hit in performance but it won't go away. I tried to download the optimized pack but it still destroys my fps. I also tried to install other replacers but they didn't change anything and in a desperate attempt have reinstall my game getting rid of all mods but it's still here. So any help would be appreciated.
Hi, @tapioks. I just wanted to let you know that this mod (just the textures folder, not meshes or esm) work wonderfully with Fallout 3. I was wondering if you would, or would permit me to upload the files to Fallout 3 nexus so that people know it's cross compatible whether they have TTW or not.
Does anyone know why I can see the top of the machine (the new sign and animated part), but the base part of the machine itself is the older version already in the game??
Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I wanted to chime in. You can fix all related slow-down issues with the Nuka Cola meshes by running them through a PyFFI optimisation script. The same script that people used for Oblivion works fine.

Just override the files in this mod and all should work okay, as the other comments (pinned) instruct
Credit for the fix goes to the original author, I believe his initials are P.O.

Another nice easy FO3 texture-replacer that would look ok in NV and TTW is Nuka-Cola vending machine retexture by thechewu.
works perfectly with TTW

How can I download it? it asks me a permission.
Edit: I did it! thanks!
