The Living Desert is basically this mod, just updated. They do almost the same thing. I'd think you'd have too many NPCs, especially if you run alot of faction mods that add patrols, etc.
Just tried it. Nothing is indicating that Gun Runners is not working in anything, Matthew's caravan is surviving as it makes its route near sloan because of some of the npcs from this mod.
Just so Scrapomatic users know, all 400 of you, the Trader and camp added to the 188 are in the same spot as the Scrapomatic. This causes no immediate issues with the trader, only their camp is inside it, but the trader will occasionally walk into it and get bugged.
