Defeat four unique NPCs to obtain improved/rebalanced versions of the pre-order/Courier\'s Stash DLC. New players are no longer given items at the beginning of the game. Designed for new play through.

Description:

This mod makes several changes to the pre-order/Courier's Stash DLC. Instead of gifting new characters the items, the player must defeat four unique NPCs in possession of them. A few known bugs have been fixed or circumvented. Also, the gear (in particular the armor) has been buffed to be more appealing for longer use while trying to keep it all balanced.

The four "mini boss" NPCs have been designed to offer a challenge and add color to the wasteland. Each uses the equipment from the DLC as well as a few other items. All can be reached/defeated before you reach Primm in the main quest. Their locations are at the bottom of this readme.


What is changed:

All armors have had their weight and armor rating rebalanced to make them more appealing. For example, the armored vault 13 suit and lightweight leather armor now have a weight of 12, a Damage Threshold of 10 and and a 5 point bonus to repair or survival. The Lightweight Metal Armor has had the endurance penalty removed.

The weapons have been tweaked slightly but are not buffed much more than they already were (if at all). A few of the weapons were added to lists with scripts for perk functionality.

One major change is that I switched the weathered 10mm pistol and made a new one based on the default (non weathered). The reasoning is that the weathered variant is known to be bugged as far as showing weapon mods. The only downside is that you don\'t get the unique weapon texture. The alternative solution is beyond my skill and I didn't want to hunt down the creator of a 3 year old mod for permission to use their work.


Compatibility:

This likely will conflict with any mod that alters the pre-order pack DLCs. It alters all of the weapons and armor as well as the quest scripts.

This is not recommended for existing saves but it shouldn't create any problems. You will just end up with the new NPCs and essentially duplicates of the DLC gear.

Tribal Pack: "Insane Raider" is at the Nevada Highway Patrol Station, southwest of Primm.

Caravan Pack: "Insane Wastelander" can be found on the tracks between NCRCF and Nipton.

Classic Pack: "Insane Vault Explorer" can be found around Wolfhorn ranch, east of Nipton.

Merc Pack: "Insane Mercenary" can be found in Searchlight (check southeast area). Warning, I moved this to an area unfriendly to new players because this NPC is much tougher than the others. I had a lot of trouble balancing this one without disabling her use of the grenade launcher.
