Amazing mod! I liked very much! :)
Is it possible to add a switcher on/of and sound during the device working?

I love it. Was hoping to see if there was a way to activate the animation, kinda like the Campfire has fire mod. But I see another comment from 9 years ago already asked, lmao; guess it safe to say not possible, huh. Any way, love the mod; you're doing God's work!.

If I add a Grinding Wheel into my Portable Tent... with this mod it would activate, right?
Im customizing my Tent based on "Portable Tent" + " Portable Tent Embiggened"

As long as it is the Activator version, rather than the Static version. Basically if you have the Grinding Wheel which is visibly rotating in your tent then it will work.

While trying to merge the way your grinding wheel script works with the way implemented in "Active Wasteland", I noticed the you do not actually take into consideration the melee or repair skill when actually repairing . You do get the upper value of each in 'repairpct' variable, but use it only to check if the weapon health is above the skill. When repairing, you are using 99 or 148 health, ignoring the 'repairpct'. So, if best skill is bellow 99 and weapon health is below best skill, you always repair to almost full health. This contradicts the description of how mod works.

Also, if you take the time to address above issue, you may want to look into the implementation of "Active Wasteland". I am suggesting this in order to have a progressive, more "immersive", sharpening experiences, but with no pop-up dialogues that break the immersion. Also, the using Player.ModWeaponHealthPerc may avoid the bug which occurs for weapons modded with a health increasing mod.

Wow, would you look at that. I think I must have released a version I used for testing rather than what was meant to be the final product. Oops.

While I was at it, I also changed the sound so that it uses the actual Grindstone sharpening sound (I managed to find it). Upload coming after I test.

I managed to make the required modifications myself, with some added bonuses. Feel free to use it however you wish, but be warned that it is "inspired" from "Active Wasteland" and "NVEC" changes to "Active Wasteland" -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/t4k7dvoub5axzl2/Grinding%20Wheel.esp?dl=0
      Changes
      - Added configurable global variables, that can be used by an MCM config, that allow to set the time/sharpening rate/update interval.
      - Adopted the progressive way of repairing from Active Wasteland.
      - Modified the way weapon health is increased, using Player.ModWeaponHealthPerc instead of Player.SetWeaponHealthPerc. That will hopefully work with health-increasing mods with values != 50%. This is untested.
      - Changed some of the pop-up to a simple 2s message, for better immersion.
      Things need investigation:
      - I was able to repair a tire iron, which is not a bladed weapon. While this may be caused by mods adding that to the wrong list, it shows that your way of detecting blades is not bullet proof (especially with mod-added weapons). While a hard-coded FLST need user edit for compatibility, the end result is that just the right weapons can be sharpened.

While I know you most likely cannot add it, i wish Obsidian had added a tempering system similar to the one in Skyrim. But at least it is good for something now, instead of being useless.

Does it use the animations when the player uses it?

No it does not. The problem is that not every grinding wheel has an animation associated with it, as the animation where the legion uses the grinding wheel is actually a separate object.

Perhaps you could add in the script something like "Player.Playanim GrindingWheel" That way it plays that animation for the player. Similar to how the NPCs use it.

The grinding wheel animation is really, really long. I'll play around with it, but I seem to remember that trying to end an animation early when called on the player can do bad things.

This is a great idea, I was mildly disappointed with how many items in Fallout 3/NV were used by npcs, but could never be used by players. The biggest thing from 3 was the Welding Gun, which would make a devastating melee weapon. and the Grinding Wheel was a nice addition by Obsidian, but made me feel sad when I first saw Legion Soldiers using it and I couldn't.

This is a very novel idea and I'll download/endorse so that more things like this can be done in the future.

Well good news for you: I'm working on making the Welding Gun a useable weapon for my Misc Item Weapons mod (which has now been expanded to Statics and unusable items). The problem I'm having is getting the "spark" effect to trigger only when the weapon is drawn. If anyone knows how that's managed on the Shishkebab - and more importantly how to recreate that in Nifskope - please let me know.

Great idea! It makes you wonder why this wasn't in the game in the first place.
