About this mod

When you get into combat, ED-E will play short snippets of Final Fantasy 7 combat music, suitably munched up a bit to sound like it\'s coming from a Pre-War speaker.

Description
===========
When you get into combat, ED-E will play short snippets (several seconds) of iconic Final Fantasy 7 music, suitably munched up a bit to sound like it's coming from a Pre-War speaker.
2/28/13 UPDATE: Version 0.91 has, in an "OPTIONAL" folder, an .esp that makes ED-E's combat music louder. I fairly carefully balanced the FF7 audio to be similar in volume to ED-E's vanilla combat themes, but honestly, in my opinion, it's better if it's a little louder.
So to use the louder version, load the .esp I've placed in the OPTIONAL folder of the archive instead.
Thanks to Sumai4444 for the feedback.

Details
=======
This mod is a replacer for ED-E's alert sounds, as well as his "triumphant" sound. Unfortunately, the "triumphant" sound is seldom played, but you will have a few sure chances to hear it in Lonesome Road DLC, if you have it.

For those who care to know:
"Alert" tracks are snippets of "Fighting," "Hurry Faster!," and (for a slow touch) "Makou Reactor." "Triumphant" track is of course the first few seconds of "Fanfare."

Install
=======
1. Extract the files to (steam dir)\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas and overwrite if asked.
1a. If you want the LOUDER! version of the mod, use the FF7EDE.esp file from the OPTIONAL folder in the archive, instead of the one found in \Data.
2. Make sure FF7EDE.esp is checked. Alternately, you can merge it into your Bashed Patch; it's a very simple replacer.

Uninstall
=========
1. Simply delete
Data\FF7EDE.esp
and the
Data\Sound\fx\npc\ed_e\alert_theme_ff7 and
Data\Sound\fx\npc\ed_e\triumphant_ff7 folders.

If you merged it into your Bashed Patch (recommended), you'll want to rebuild it. ED-E will probably stop making alert sounds until you do.

Incompatibility
===============
This mod changes ED-E's "alert" and "triumphant" sounds. Shouldn't conflict with much. I recommend merging it into your Bashed Patch; this is the world's least complicated mod and shouldn't take up an entire slot in your load order.

Known Issues
====================
The relative volumes of the alert sounds may not be entirely consistent with each other. They should be pretty close though.
You'd think "triumphant" would play when you survive combat, but it doesn't. I might try to make it do so if people ask, although I believe I'd have to edit ED-E's script to do this. I'm hesitant to, but it might be a cool touch.
I've noticed that "Makou Reactor" doesn't sound great at anything but rather close range. The "doom piano" doesn't come across, but the weird ride cymbal sound sure does. So it sounds like he's just playing static. I'd just remove this sound, but Makou Reactor is so dramatic when it plays right.

History
=======
0.9, 3/5/2013 - Initial release.
0.91, 3/27/2013 - Sumai4444 said the audio wasn't loud enough, I made a quick tweak and reuploaded with "LOUDER!" as an optional extra.

Credits
=======
Thanks to Squaresoft for providing cool game music I took 5-second samples of.
Thanks to Obsidian for making this fine game, and also for the tiny "silence" wav which I copied in to my mod so ED-E has a chance to not play any music on combat start.
Thanks to the Nexus sites, and the crazy mod community for the Gamebryo games that makes them more playable and more great.

Licensing/Legal
===============
I would like to be told if you adapt this mod's contents in some way. Note that Squaresoft/Square-Enix owns FF7 and its music and I don't intend to infringe on their copyright with these snippets of (intentionally) poor-quality audio, just trigger some cool nostalgia for some old-timer gamers like me.
