This is a small fix for the bug that causes The House Always Wins quest to hang/freeze after your character is transported into the basement of the Lucky 38. I encountered this bug last night in my own game. When Mr. House sends you to the basement to demonstrate the Securitron upgrades, sometimes the quest will hang, and the demo won't start no matter what you do! What's worse is that there is no way out of the basement, so you are trapped, and can't progress in the story with a Pro-House or Pro-Independent Vegas character!!!

So I created this fix for myself, and decided to upload it here just in case anyone else out there ever has this problem, ever again. If there is a fix out there somewhere, I wasn't able to find it, hence this mod.

Anyway, this fix places a "Magic Quest Apple" on the table of the Lucky 38 basement. Once you pick it up, it manually fires the lines of code that were supposed to fire to complete the quest and send you back to Mr. House. Simple.

My guess is that because both quests, The House Always Wins I and II, can be activated at the same time, the game is constantly checking to see if conditions are true for BOTH of them before moving either quest forward. Either one or the other is returning False because BOTH are active, thus causing the quest to stall. Well, not anymore . . .

Installation:


Simply drop the House Wins Quest Apple.ESP into your Data directory, same as any other mod. You should only need to use this once per playthrough, to get you past that part of the quest if you are experiencing this annoying glitch, so feel free to disable/delete it for the remainder of your game, once it's served its purpose!

***Make sure you take everything in the room before taking the Apple!***

ALSO - the Apple works with Yes Man's demonstration as well. In my game, both Mr. House's AND Yes Man's demonstrations of the Securitron upgrades stalled. The Apple will solve the issue for either branch of the quest, but the only difference is that you must speak to Yes Man TWICE! Speak to him once, then immediately speak to him again. Problem solved.

Hopefully, no one's game will ever be broken by this problem again.
