About this mod

Ever get tired of seeing NPCs that survived a battle limping across the Wasteland, never healing themselves? Ever wanted to heal an ally in the heat of battle without having to run them down and initiate dialogue? Medicine Gun George is a Medical Rifle that shoots Medical BBs to restore Health and Limb Condition!

MEDICINE GUN GEORGE

UPDATE: This mod is now outdated, as talented modders and script writers have introduced much more efficient ways of healing injured NPCs. I personally recommend JIP Command and Control for all your NPC manipulation needs! However, I will keep this mod available on the Nexus for amusement purposes, in case anyone would like to download and play around with it. Have fun and happy gaming.

UPDATE: Increased the amount of starting ammo for the George Rifles, as well as the potency of the Medicine Pills.

Medicine Gun George adds a pair of unique, NPC healing Varmint Rifles to the game named "George"! Inspired by Yngve91's Stimpack NPC healing mod from FO3, this mod puts NPC healing into the ease of a rifle, and uses a simple script to prevent NPCs from becoming hostile when you shoot them for healing purposes. Also adds two new Ammo Types to the game for use with the George rifles, Medicine Pills and Smelling Salts!

Any NPC shot by George's Medicine Pills will have their health partially restored, as well as have any crippled limbs completely healed. This is useful for assisting NPCs that are injured or close to dying, such as the locals in Freeside after an encounter with Freeside Thugs, or other situations where you'd rather help out one side or the other.

The name of the rifles, George, is a nod to a certain doctor from one of my favorite survival horror franchises, who could heal his NPC teammates by shooting them with herbal pills from a capsule shooter.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Simply load George with Medicine Pills, point and shoot! The targeted NPC will be rendered unconscious by the anesthetic inside the Medicine Pills, so as to prevent them from attacking you. NPCs with high HP will take more shots than average NPCs to fully heal, but they'll sleep through the whole process. Medicine Pills not only restore health, but will also heal crippled limbs.

2. Once you're satisfied with the amount they've healed up, load George with Smelling Salts, and shoot them again to wake them up!

3. You can find George and a moderate supply of Medicine Pills and Smelling Salts *somewhere* inside Doc Mitchell's House in Goodsprings! A replica of George and more Medicine Pills and Smelling Salts are also in the Old Mormon Fort, in Julie Farkas's Room.

4. BEWARE! The anesthetic contained in the Medicine Pills is extremely potent. Any NPC you shoot with George while loaded with Medicine Pills will STAY unconscious until you wake them up with Smelling Salts! Tested on Julie Farkas - who remained unconscious and sleep walking for three days until woken up with Smelling Salts . . .

5. Any NPC that you heal with George will become friendly towards you, including creatures. After all, you just did them a favor, and they owe you one.

6. In case you start to run out of ammo, Doc Mitchell, Julie Farkas, and Doctor Usanagi at the New Vegas Medical Clinic should all sell Medicine Pills and Smelling Salts.

Mods That Work Well With George

Yukichigai's Unconscious NPCs - Allow Looting, is a mod that, as it says, allows the looting of unconscious NPCs. Combined with Medicine Gun George, this will allow you to not only heal NPC characters, but while they are unconscious, you can place better weapons and gear in their inventories, which they will equip when woken up with Smelling Salts! Kudos to TheSiren for pointing out this useful combo! This makes arming NPCs for a gunfight more practical, as in the quest GhostTown Gunfight, for example.

This is my first official weapons mod, tested and stable so far, and shouldn't conflict with any other mods as it adds it's own unique weapons and ammo to the game. Leave me a comment if you find George useful!
