Readme for "The Inheritance"
by Someguy2000

First:
THIS MOD REQUIRES THE SOMEGUYSERIES.ESM
THIS MOD REQUIRES GUN RUNNER'S ARSENAL

This is the first readme, so many of the FAQ's and issues are derived from my own gameplayer experiences, as well as correspondence with the testers.
However, as player feedback mounts, I will include more FAQ's as needed.

FAQ's (General Troubleshooting and Main Quest)
Q: Can I play this mod without Gun Runner's Arsenal?
A: No, unless you don't mind missing meshes and textures.

Q: I loaded your mod and my game crashes at [insert point]! Can you help me?
A: Ensure you're using the someguyseries.esm, and that it's activated. Also, make sure your archive invalidation is done. If all else fails, go here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/forum/355-new-vegas-mod-troubleshooting/

Q: I have installed the mod, but there's no audible dialogue, and there are red exclamation points!
A: You didn't install the mod correctly. Make sure you unpack all the contents of the .rar archive into the "Data" folder of your New Vegas directory. Check and ensure it's not "Data/Data" or something like that.

Q: Why don't the quest markers work?
A: Sometimes they're just wonky, particularly when dealing with the Thorn and Gomorrah. Once you enter the cell with the objective (For Hasting, The Thorn) (For Chase, the 3rd floord of Gomorrah), then the objective will display correctly. Also, some of the quests add new dungeons, so you may need to select a different quest, then re-select the first quest to refresh the objectives.

Q: Why is this mod so easy/hard?
A: I balanced it for high-level players. If you don't like it, open the Geck and change it. I tweak other mods all the time.

Q: I killed [insert NPC] and the quest seems to be broken. What gives?
A: Sorry if you roleplay as a psychopath, but I probably haven't scripted for every murderous contingency. Arbitrary slaughter can break certain quests, or at least trigger a "Fail".

Q: Why is Bradley essential for most of the first quest? This breaks lore/immersion/gameplay!
A: I didn't want to script for it, as this is a side project in anticipation of Firebase Zulu. Change it in the Geck, or just use console commands if you feel like blasting him.

Q: There are no markers for "Defend Westside". How do I know when I've succeeded?
A: After fending off three waves of Fiends, the quest will update, and Bradley will initiate a conversation with you.

Q: Why are there so many ghouls in Outpost Lambda? It's ridiculous!
A: It's a design decision on my part, in order to render a climactic finale for the dungeon. Make use of the Geck if it doesn't suit your tastes.

Q: How do I access the commander's office in Outpost Lambda?
A: Kill a unique, feral ghoul named Elphinstone. He has the key. You must kill several waves of ghouls before he spawns.

Q: Do I *have* to kill Bradley? That's bullshit!
A: Yes. It's you or him. There is no other way. Open the Geck and craft an alternate ending if you like.

Q: Why is Zimmer so damn hard?
A: He's an expert swordsman who makes use of expensive implants. He is designed to be genuinely dangerous, even to high-level characters.

SIDEQUESTS:
I'm guessing that many players will be curious as to how they can access the most content in "The Inheritance". The requirements for each sidequest are stipulated below:

"Fiend's Ransom"
- The player must pick up one piece of the Enclave gold. A few days later a courier will deliver a letter, initiating the quest.

"Think of the Children!"
- The player must pick up one piece of the Enclave gold. A few days later a courier will deliver a letter, initiating the quest.

"Fiends Anonymous"
- The player must kill Zimmer. A few days later a courier will deliver a letter, initiating the quest.

"Repaid in Full"
- First, the player must have completed Ranger Andy's quest dealing with RS Charlie
- Second, the player must neutralized the Syndicate (Don't "settle" with them). Then a courier's delivery will start the quest.

"Gimme Shelter"
- No requirements. Speak to Jim Anderson, who is west of H&H Tools.

FAQ's (Sidequests)
Q: Why can't I just sneak in and kill Chester? I'm a ninja, dammit!
A: I designed this quest to offset the combat-centric approach to much of the other content. You cannot save the hostage through violence.

Q: Can I kill Esther and still save the children?
A: No, that's the dilemma.

Q: I killed the "Rat Matriarch". Where's the "Legendary Rat"?
A: Keep killing rats. He'll come to you.

Q: Why isn't there an option to formulate a compromise between Cady and Grant?
A: They have irreconcilable differences of opinion. You have to make a choice and accept the consequences.

Q: Who is Dr. Rockstein?
A: Google it and you'll find out. It's a pop culture reference.

Q: What are the *exact* reputation requirements to start "Repaid in Full"?
A: Fame of >= 20 with the NCR, and infamy of >= 10 with the Legion.

Q: Is there any way to defend Ranger Station Charlie without spamming mini-nukes?
A: Yes, convince Beaumont to radio in both sets of reinforcements. It makes a difference.

Q: Why are the Legion bodies disappearing during the attack?
A: The limitations of the engine dictate that dead NPC's be disabled and deleted to ensure stability. Seeing dead attackers disappear is the price you pay for large-scale battles.

Q: Where is the soothsayer?
A: Wandering in the Spring Mountains, not far from Jacobstown.
