this is good as i noticed i was getting lag spikes when a tutorial pop up showed up.
is it normal for this to be disabling mod pop ups to? besides the deterrent's none of the mod quests pop ups are appearing when i wake up. they do still show up in the pip boy tho.
yeah looks like this mod disables mod pop up messages.
PSA to people.. (Purely in the common interest of people having good mods and with the latest advancements in the technology etc)
There's an .espless version of this floating around (Does the same thing), made by Eddoursul. For anyone that can't spare the .esp slot in these trying times..
Still download and endorsethis mod ofcourse, so they get the rep cause they the OG
In case anyone is looking for it, "NVJSawyerInstallMsg" is the ID for jsawyer ultimate's init message. Add it to tutorial killer's ini file. I.e. "NVJSawyerInstallMsg = -1". MCM has a toggle for its message in its own ini, btw.
Dunno, tried this, don't seem to work. Have latest versions of nvse/jonny etc, 360 run works etc. I still get more popups than Carter has little liver pills.
It turns certain message boxes into corner messages. In order to do that the message box's editor ID must be added to an ini file. Otherwise the mod won't do anything with it. So if you still get message boxes it means one of two things.
1. It's from a mod which doesn't have an ini file in Tutorial Killer. But including presets for every mod on the Nexus is an unrealistic expectation.
2. It might be made using an NVSE function like MessageBoxEx in which case is done via a script and therefore the mod can't do anything with it.
Addressing #1 is simple. Create an ini file file and place the editor IDs in it and Tutorial Killer will turn it into a corner message for you. But #2 would require editing the mod in question. I doubt Tutorial Killer could universally turn all message boxes into corner messages as that could potentially break certain mods or quests.
I'm confused. Are you saying that this mod is unneeded because of that ini setting? Even if you disable that setting this mod still handles many more messages than what that ini setting will.
I just wanted the vats push v pop up that was in my face forever. I can't say for sure what else it may remove. I just started a new game to try it. I hope it will not kill pop ups from mods. I really did not want all pop ups gone. The idea of doing that with out another .esp was also compelling. I also use Stewies tweaks, but I did not find a way to turn off press v for vats pop up. I am not very techie about these things, so a simpler fix was also nice.
I'm not sure but I think this is also fixed by one of the optional tweaks in lSteweieAI's Tweaks ; disables hardcoded one-time tutorial messages, e.g. hacking, lockpick, Pip-Boy bDisableTutorialMessages = 1
I can confirm that it works with the current version of JIP LN(version 55.55). There was a tutorial screen(can't remember what it was) that popped up once, but the rest of message/screen will be gone.
Actually this isn't entirely in Stewie's Tweaks. Tutorial Killer still does other things Tweaks doesn't, such as dealing with faction disguise and quest messages.
That being said I did some testing. I don't think it's JIP that broke Tutorial Killer. I tested with the latest version of JIP LN NVSE which as of the writing of this message is 55.61. It all worked like it was supposed to. However once I installed JohnnyGuitar NVSE, it broke the mod. The crafting menu message came up. Once I disabled the bLoadEditorIDs setting in JG, Tutorial Killer worked again. Using "bDisableTutorialMessages" in lStewieAl's Tweaks also prevents the message from showing up. Though that does it on an engine level rather then surpressing the message via script. So you could disable bLoadEditorIDs in JohnnyGUitar, but using bDisableTutorialMessages in Stewie's Tweaks is probably a better idea.

Users can easily add messages with new .ini files in \config\Tutorial Killer\ folder by looking at one of the included ini as an example.
In addition to the update to reading from ini, configurations were added for Fallout: New California, Autumn Leaves, and several other mods.

There's just different/better ways to do this now

Might not be as complete, don't know.

That's at least what I found from my testing.
