Overview

A Koch and Bohr Story is the second in a planned series of mods restoring cut content back to Fallout New Vegas. This mod restores two fully voiced NPCs (Koch and bohr) to Vault 22 and the quest 'There Stands the Grass'. The player can now encounter two robots Keely had brought with her to investigate Vault 22; the science droid Bohr and the sentry bot Koch.

This is a very short and simple mod that showcases some content that it is not hard to see why it was removed in the first place. Both Koch and Bohr are fully voiced, but add little to the game. Bohr merely delivers some redundant exposition, while Koch gives the player some extra firepower against the vault's creatures. Neither character is acknowledged by Keely, and to be honest the presence of both characters slightly erodes the carefully fostered lonely (and deadly) atmosphere of the Vault. The player can of course now decide their worth for themselves with this mod.

I have altered Koch somewhat from what Obsidian intended. Aside from fixing a particularly embarrassing bug that caused him to literally fall apart all the time, he can now move. Originally the game would tell the player he was too damaged to move, but this resulted in him (or indeed her - Koch is referred to as both in the same script file) being completely useless. He will instead now roam the level he is on engaging in combat with any spore creatures he stumbles into. This unfortunately also exposes his poor ability to pathfind the sometimes narrow walkways, as well as his Dalek-like lack of convincing stair climbing/ascending animations, which is probably why he was immobile to begin with.

Installation

Simply extract ALL files from this archive to your FalloutNV/Data/ directory. click the "Data Files" option from the game's loader and tick the box next to kochandbohr.esp

For best results, simply use the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) package installer.

Known Issues/Bugs

- Koch will float in the air for a second when repaired. This is simply a shortcoming of how this sequence was scripted and can't be fixed without completely rewriting Obsidian's original code.
