Yep, the highlighting is making it so functions, variables, conditionals, strings, etc, have different colours to each other so the code is easier to read. Whichever colour scheme you are using will set the appropriate colours.
Yes, as in the description/readme, install neocomplcache for auto-completion whilst you type. Though you will need to type at least two letters by default, i.e. ge. See the screenshot in the images for an example.
@ anybody who has never used Vim but is reading this anyway: Vim's initial learning curve is quite steep, but start with the Vim tutor and you'll be using it okay within an hour. The payoff in productivity (& less aches) is worth it.

If I type in the letter "g" a list will drop down listing codes like "GetItemCount" or something like that?
