NEW SORTOMATIC VERSION RELEASED 2-8-14!!! [Requires NVSE and the Sortomatic Resource]
By popular request I have added an optional Sortomatic version of Afterschool Special. If you change over to the Sortomatic version of this mod, it is HIGHLY recommended that you make a new hard save before swapping out the files. In my testing, there weren't any issues with the conversion, but I'm only one person and cannot account for the thousands of things that could happen with mods. If you fail to save before you update do NOT blame me if something goes wrong.
I did not have any issues whatsoever converting as I simply added the necessary scripts to the existing containers, swapped my CIMS Terminal for the Sortomatic MSC, added the IQM and Homeless container. Any items already placed in my CIMS containers should still be there after you convert your version, but as I mentioned, I suggest you make a new save just in case.
To update to Sortomatic, install normally as you would any other mod either with the mod manager or manually.
The Sortomatic version does NOT have any of the display items, it only has the main sorting system and quota manager.
Also, Paul's dialog will still talk about the CIMS System and not Sortomatic. I'm not going to redo a whole section of dialog just for Sortomatic, so you'll just have to pretend they're the same system.
With the Sortomatic version I added new Kitchen cabinets that are also Sortomatic scripted as well as a little more clutter on the kitchen counters and the counter on the side wall. After you update if the cabinets and new clutter don't immediately appear, make another save, exit the game and reload and you should be good to go. This is not a bug, it's simply how the engine recognizes new objects added to an existing enable parent. If after a hard save and reload, they still don't show up, you can use the console to "refresh" the enable parent with this code:
The XX in the code is the numerical slot my mod is in your load order. You can confirm this by opening the console and clicking on any of my containers and the first two numbers in the RefID is what you need to substitute for the XX.
IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE!!! If you are a new user, or havent completed all the quests all the way through the fence being repaired, update to V 2.01. If you've already completed everything, there's not much reason to update, but it won't hurt to do so.
Version 2.01 tweaks some dialog conditions and the script processing delay for some scripts that were laggy and caused problems. If you get stuck anywhere let me know in my comments and I'll get you moving forward again.
1-8-13 - VERSION 2.01 RELEASED! CRITICAL UPDATE - Fixes various dialog and stage conditions and scripting. As I said above, if you haven't finished everything update NOW! Includes all the stuff below.
Please read the installation instructions as they are critical to a successful update from earlier versions. You MUST at least delete the Afterschool Special.esm folder from your sound/voice folder for it to work! The other directories are not critical, but recommended to un-clutter your Data folder contents. Also, pay attention to the 2 places I suggest you NOT update in the middle of. Even of you do, it's only a SetStage to get you back on track, so post in my comments of you have an issue.
This is not a massive update in terms of overall changes you will ultimately notice. But like my Bison Steve mod, the tweaks I added to the mechanics make for a more polished mod, and the dialog added adds to the overall experience. And I fixed some things that have bothered me since I first released, lol.
Take my advice, start looking for a chainsaw now!
NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 2 - All new quest to repair the fence around the school, also adds some additional landscaping and an outdoor picnic area - Better start hunting for a Chainsaw! - All new quest mechanics for more immersive experience - All voice acting has been completely redone with more misc greetings and goodby's for more immersive experience - Actually purchase your upgrades from Paul now instead of using the holotapes I originally had
I have big red exclamation points (missing texture/mesh?) now inside the school after cleaning it and placing all the new containers before going to Helios One.. They are all placed on the counters near the fridge :/ everything was fine before that, any idea what is causing this ?
Ok could someone please help me figure this out. When I try to download this the Bison Steve hotel and Eliza mods using Mod Organizer 2 I get a little red notice that says The content of <data> does not look valid. If I then click ok a popup comes up that says This mod was probably NOT set up correctly, most likely it will NOT work. You should first correct the directory layout using the content-tree. I don't know how to do that could someone please explain how to do that in step by step detail so I can finally get back to playing TTW. I haven't played it in months because I wanted to get these last few mods working. Every other mod I added just worked immediately after downloading and installing them so I have no experience in fixing problems like this.
@JohnathanCalderon Good day sir or madam. When MO2 gives you that error, what you need to do is to click on the chevron (the little arrow thing to the left of whatever the box shows). This will open the file tree of the mod. In there you will the list of the files in the mod itself. There will a 'Data' file. Right click on that file and options to 'set as <data> directory' will appear. Click on that... it should fix the problem and allow you to install it. A lot of mods were created back in the day when everything was installed manually and it some times presents issues for how MO2 works.
EDIT: That being said... I literally just downloaded and installed this using MO2 and did no run into an issue... still if you run into the issue that should fix it.
Thank you so much I have been waiting for someone to help me with this for months. Everything seems to be working just fine so far. Amazing that the solution was something as simple as right clicking on that one specific thing. Modding am I right. seriously I can't thank you enough now if you'll excuse me I'm off to continue my journey through the wastes.
So I already checked the forum and supposedly this mod doesn't work with Mod Organizer and from what I can tell that may be true for Mod Organizer 2. Is there A way to get it to work or am I boned. I'm hoping there's some way to get it to work as I was going to use the school house as my home in the Mojave for my TTW playthrough and I really love this mod.
Not sure if it's MO2, an interaction with Improved AI (Navmesh Overhaul Mod), or a weird conflict between this, Cosmetic Wardrobe, and/or Enhanced Item Info, but my game (and my GECK!) wouldn't load with this mod installed with MO2 (including I couldn't make a navmesh patch including Afterschool Special). I haven't tried again since disabling the latter two (one or the other or the combo was making my entire setup implode every time I hit escape to pull up that menu meaning I couldn't get to my MCM), maybe I'll try installing this in the root folder and see if that works (course would need to do another patch but oh well).
Sorry it took me so long to reply I stopped my playthrough when I wasn't able to get this the Bison Steve hotel and Eliza mods to work. I used a video tutorial by Cloudisms on Youtube to install TTW through MO2 and every other mod I installed worked just fine but with these three mods I would always get some kind of error warning and the mods just didn't seem to be doing anything. I even tried to manually install them but I've always been really bad at that so I probably just messed that up on my own. If anyone has the time and knowhow on how to trouble shoot problems like these and find out what I'm doing wrong I would be very appreciative if they could post a solution in a reply to this message. Thanks in advance.
I finished all quests except for the quest to fix the broken fence. It doesn't seem to be triggering. Am I supposed to do something to trigger it? I added a chainsaw to inventory.
Edit: For some reason the quest popped up when I reloaded the game the next day.
I love this mod. I have 1 problem. I have been searching for last mini locker for over an hour. I have found that it is supposed to be in front of school. I have searched in front in back and all around the school and can't find the last one I am looking for. Any help would be appreciated. I found all the items listed on the hints page but leaves last mini locker still missing not on map.
There are two in the small cave Paul mentions + check the ruined house around Goodsprings (none of them are in interiors) + check behind the gas station, that's the one I usually forget (: Hope this helps!

long story short, I have 5/6 lockers.
I do not have quest pointers to see where they are.
ugh.
locker ID to spawn it?

Setup my small load order with Vortex (45 mods) and no complaints at all.
