Well, it IS a reward for killing an extremely powerful creature, which you can only fight if you pay MONEY for the DLC in the first place(if the first reason wasn't good enough).
Not really, compare it to the other benefits you come out of OWB with. Plasma weapons are all high damage per shot, so it's the impact is much less than a bonus that affects certain other weapons.
Allow me to disagree. The same DLC gives you full poison immunity that lets you b**ch slap previously deadly cazadors. Now that is overpowered (and I'm okay with that).
A little exra 2 points in Damage Threshold against very SPECIFIC type of attack is overpowered?! LMAO Please tell me this was sarcasm or this is some special case of dumb...
Let me guess, no combat mods, very easy difficulty? This guy shredded my pathetic ass first few times, I'm using BLEED and this thing hits heavier than legendary deathclaw, I couldn't survive 2nd shot in power armor with Med-X.

I killed this bloatfly with no problem...On my 10th attempt. I went looking for a blind spot where I could attack it without it actually reacting as this is a fault I've noticed affecting some enemies.
If you go to the ledge that is just above where the legendary bloatfly is hovering, the one that leads to the room with the cot, and just inch around the corner until you can get a clear shot at it, you should be able to blast away at it without it attacking you.
