About this mod

A carbine rifle chambered for pistol cartridges.

Things to note: When I create mods, I make mods that fit into the vanilla game as seamlessly as possible. As with all weapons in recent Fallout games, this weapon was inspired by the M1A1 Carbine, but is not actually the M1A1 Carbine.

Pointless history of why I created this mod: This started out with the simple idea of trying to increase the rate of fire on This Machine. However, the only good way to do that was to change the animation style to that of pistol-gripped rifles. If that was changed, I wouldn't be able to use the same reloading animation. So, I needed a pistol-gripped This Machine that took a magazine fed into the bottom of the gun. Thus, the idea of the Service Carbine came into light, but I couldn't decide on a proper ammunition type. After playing Honest Hearts, I wanted to add something chambered in .45 Auto that could be used for longer ranges. The only real-life weapons I could find in similar calibers were carbine rifles. Thus, this coincidence allowed me to decide on .45 Auto for this rifle.

Service Carbine by Soldier9501

*** REQUIRES HONEST HEARTS DLC ***
*** Non-dlc version available, see below ***

Meshes:
- taken from vanilla New Vegas and modified/spliced by myself (This Machine, Chinese Assault Rifle, Service Rifle)
Texture:
- Base texture is from a custom "This Machine" retexture created by Piestub. Modified for use by me.
- Several textures were also taken from vanilla New Vegas.

This adds a carbine rifle chambered for pistol rounds called the "Service Carbine." I created it to use .45 Auto rounds,
so it currently requires Honest Hearts. It should also be affected by the "Grunt" perk.

2 of the rifles are located at Ranger Substation Osprey in Zion Canyon.
Base ID: xx000ADE

ServiceCarbine_Lite:
- does not require any DLC, uses .357 magnum rounds.
- currently not placed in the game world, must be obtained via console
- has not been tested

1.01 quickfix: While getting a screenshot showing the 1st person hi-res textures, I noticed that several parts of the weapon were still using textures from This Machine in the 3rd-person low-res version. Fixed and re-submitted.
