I had a similar idea for a mod the other day and found this in my search to see if anyone else had thought of it. My idea was to take the two glass pitchers and tubing and craft them together into a "Makeshift Still", and the recipe would use that instead. That way you could still do Mass Purify and not have to worry about other crafting recipes that require surgical tubing using up your precious still!
@Omny I was looking for solutions to that problem and your post inspired me to create a mod which does exactly that. You can find it here. @Yukichigai, would you mind if I use your approach with my mod? I'll credit you, of course.
I asked Yukichigai, but I then realized that this mod states you can modify/convert if you gave credit, so I did. Version 1.1 is currently available at the Nexus.
@Ento, Seviche: I actually have a mod I've not quite finished that I've dubbed (tentatively) the ''Smart Survival Skill'' mod. It deals with recipes for the most part, adding a few new ones that ought to have been there (make cactus water using any kind of soda bottle), tweaking existing requirements (it takes 40 skill to cook a Coyote Steak, why again?), and also overhauls some of the effects of food items (Mole Rat Stew ought to provide some hydration, what with it being part liquid and all). I'd kinda decided I wasn't going to release it since there are SO many other Survival overhaul mods out there, but maybe I ought to finish it and put it up here. Sounds like there would be interest.
@marx0012: The recipe already does that. That's the entire point of this: rather than having to use all of those items on 5 dirty waters, wait to get the surgical tubing and glass pitchers back, then do it all over again, you can just do all of your dirty water at once with one surgical tubing and two glass pitchers.

Are you going to give the rest of the survival *craftables* a going over as well?
Mind you, this is the Fallout universe. I'm sure people have to put up with far worse on a daily basis.
Maybe you could add that.
