STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL: NEW VEGAS EDITION or just SFS:NV
Now, you may ask yourselves: "WTH is SFS:NV???" Don´t worry, I explain.
The concept behind the whole thing was to create a whole new game experience just with the recourses Bethesda and Obsidian had. The point was to use ALL the recourses hidden in the game data and to IMPROVE the game.
The first thing I worked on was the combat. I didn´t like the combat system of fallout 3 and fallout nv. It was not about the damage alone. It was about the accuracy, the player and npc reaction on being shot, about instant healing during combat, bullet behavior and so on. Then I worked on the player being more "NPC-like", because i had the feeling that the player character does not "fit" into the world, for example because he/she is not playing an animation, while eating or drinking at a bar. Later I noticed much much more things that didn´t match for me. AND THAT WAS A WHOLE BUNCH OF THINGS I DIDN´T LIKE (See II) FEATURES) So the process of total gameplay change began!
After a while I heard about the mod "Project Nevada". They had many ideas and many features my mod had, too. But still i didnt like that they added some abilities the npcs didnt have, like sprinting or tackling, so the player didnt match into the world. And it sounds a bit like cheating to me. Also the combat was not that much improved. And the biggest thing i didnt like was, that they used NVSE. So not all the players could have the pleasure to enjoy that mod.
What about SFS? Well its "the same" Project Nevada but with improved gameplay and combat, with visually usable ingestibles and many new features but without all the NVSE stuff and all the new items and creatures. IT WAS CREATED ONLY WITH ORIGINAL GAME DATA! Struggle For Survival is a mod that makes the game how it SHOULD be in my opinion! If SFS feels like a mod, then it's failed. If it feels like how the game should have been, it's succeeded.
I should say that the Project Nevada team did a very good work. SFS is not intended to replace or beat it in any way. It is just an alternative. In my oppinion a worthy one.
BUT, because a whole bunch of people like Project Nevada AND because I started using Project Nevada together with the DLCs myself, I decided to integrate many features from SFS into it...so I made a mod version which elegantly does it.

ACHTUNG!!! WHAT YOU READ IN PARAGRAPHS 1-16 ONLY CONCERNS THE VANILLA VERSION OF THE MOD!!! THE CHANGES MADE IN THE "Project Nevada + DLC"-VERSION OF SFS ARE LISTED IN PARAGRAPH 17)
There were made several changes in the gameplay:
1) Increased Damage (Unarmed, Weapons & Creatures)
Yeah, the Player & NPC Damage was increased by ca. > x2.5. Creatures do > x3 damage. Don´t worry bout your MOD weapons and creatures. Their damage is automaticly increased, too, so cut the whining! Ah, yeah and most of the weapons don´t shoot you limbs off or somethin anymore. Sniper Rifles do. Energy Weapons do. Unique Weapons (except of Maria) either. Explosions can pretty much tear you appart. A propos explosions: beware of the BOOM! Its all I have to say about that... (Or with other words: GET COVER!!!)
2) Rebalanced Weapons
Well, I rebalanced the technical properties of the vanilla weapons, to make certain weapons actually more USEFUL in certain situations. In the vanila game it was pretty simple: the main characteristic of a weapon was...THE DAMAGE! So the average Fallout player thought like this: "Huh, this gun has damage 41 and this gun has damage 71! huh is good! i take strong gun. Makes more boom! Is strong!" Pretty dumb if you ask me. Now that the damage is not that much important you have to mind the acuracy, the rate of fire, the reloading time, THE STOPPING POWER (yeah i added it, too. Will Explain later) the gun condition and prepare yourself! For example in close range fighting you will prefer the 22. smg over the brush gun!
3) Stopping Power
Everybody knows that stopping power is important. Especially in close range combat situations. What is stopping power? The power that stops the bad guy! The power that knocks him off his lovely feet! So guns with more stopping power can kill the enemy better, right? Wrong again! The guns with much stopping power don´t necessary have to do much damage. The single shotgun for example can knock your enemy of his feet faster than the service rifle. Still with the sevice rifle you can kill the enemy faster, cause it does more damage! But since the 5.56*45 has less stopping power than a fly, it ain´t gonna knock ANYBODY from his feet! Which makes the shotguns and smaller guns with higher caliber and less reloading time more suitable for close range fighting!
The type of gun plays a role. For example the sniper rifle can knock your enemy faster out than the hunting rifle! If the bad guy is wearing power or reinforced armor, you will have hard time to stop him. With some calibers you even won´t be able to do so. The same is true for BIG creatures and some robots.
4) Proper Weapon Names
9mm Pistol? Anti-Materiel Rifle? Marksman Carbine? please! the guns have NAMES! So I looked up and gave the guns their names back. Don´t wanna list the changes, so DOWNLOAD THE MOD, PLAY IT and then you´ll know it for sure!
5) Weapon Jam and Handling
So now your weapon can jam while shooting, so you´ll have to keep it in good condition. Only at a condition of 90 % it´ll never jam. Weapons in bad shape will jam A LOT! So now the weapon condition is essential! Especially when the damage output is high! Also your gun skill and energy weapon skill won´t affect the damage output of your guns that much. But they will affect the accuracy and the ability of breaking down your weapons at a reloading bench for weapon spare parts (see 6) )! With a low gun skill you´ll most likely never hit anything! So skill your skill up! Accuracy is more essential than EVER now! Walking, running and crouching will affect the accuracy much more!
6) Weapon Repair and Jurry Rigging
Now you can break down your guns and energy weapons to weapon spare parts at reloading benches. It will prove usefull, if you dont wanna carry a whole bunch of spare guns with you to repair your stuff. Also i replaced repair kits with tool kits. They weight 4 pounds now and do not repair your weapons anymore. But you now have a mobile reloading bench (Tool Kits are now mobile reloading benches)! And your blade weapons you can now repair with whetstones. Also I completely changed the jurry rigging system of FO:NV. Now with the Jurry Rigging perk you´ll be able to repair some of your stuff with wonderglue, spare parts, leather belts and so on. Now for example 9mm pistol spare parts will repair the 9mm smg, 10mm pistol spare parts will repair the 10 mm smg and so on. Just try.
7)Reduced Carry Weight and Inventory Changes
Yeah carrying 500 pounds sounds pretty fun, huh? I wonder how you are supposed to carry this shit! So now I reduced the carry weight. With a Strength of 10 you´ll be only able to carry 100 pounds. With the perk Strong Back and Strength 10 - only 110 pounds. You´ll notice the difference. Also now ALL the items (yeah Stimpaks and shit, too!) have a weight, so now you´ll have to think twice what you are taking with you!
8) Animated Eating, Drinking, Drugs and SMOKING
Yeah i just thought, why not? And yeah, when you have a gun out and use a stimpak or somethin, your character will automaticly first put the weapon away, and when you use a doctors bag, it´ll need some time (you´ll see what i mean) so no more healing while you are getting shot by 30 legionairies! Oh and yeah i added smokable cigarettes to the game (give you +15 AP for 30 seconds and can give you tobacco addiction, just like the coyotte tobacco chew).
9) Ingestible Effects, Drunk Walking and Vomit!!!
I rebalanced some ingesibles, especially drugs and alcohol. You take too many drugs and alcohol at once? You´ll notice it. You will walk funny and won´t be able to control your movements properly and if you take too much of the stuff, you´ll have the whole content of your stomach all over the floor! yeah you will see it. take more and you´ll die. Drugs kill, my dear!
10) NCR Emergency Radio
Yeah, you know that NCR radio you get when your reputation with the NCR is high enough? And you know that you can call in trooper, ranger and supply support with it? I always wondered, where the heck this trooper and this ranger and this SUPPLY CRATE come from. And why is only one soldier coming to your help? Where is his squad? So I fixed that issue. Now when you call in a trooper, a vertibird will fly by and load out a whole "squad" of ncr troopers consisting of a sergeant and 3 troopers, who will follow the sergeant. The serge dies, the troopers won´t follow you anymore. if you call in ranger support, a vertibird with TWO rangers in it comes by. You call in a supply support - a vertibird will come and drop a crate from the scy. Pretty neat, huh?
11) Chinese Stealth Armor
The Chinese Stealth armor was separated into the body armor and the helmet. When you pick up the Chinese Stealth Armor however you automaticly get both body armor AND helmet! Furthermore: an Integrated Cloaking Device was added to the Chinese Stealth armor. Become invisible by activating it!
12) Night Vision
Night Vision Modules were added to several helmets. A special kind of nightvision module was added to the Ranger Helmet! !!!NVSE is !!!NOT!!! required!!! All other night vision mods, go f*ck yourself!!! No insult intended =) I love you guys. 3
13) New Classic Music Radio Station
You know the music in the Ultra-Luxe? You wanna hear it in your travels? Well somewhere in the desert there is an abandoned radio station in an abandoned trailer. The signal is weak, but with some fixing you should be able to restore it. Don´t worry: You won´t be FORCED to find that radio station. There is no quest or something, the radio signal is weak, so you´ll only be able to find the trailer if you are close to it (after you fix the radio you´ll of course be able to hear the music everywhere in the Mojave) and for the fixing thing you won´t even need any repair skills.
14) Several Minor Changes
Just some minor improvements and bug fixes. Like for example the Boone Bug, where he can´t stop greeting you. Or Raul who doesn´t want too repair your stuff in the presidential suit. Ah and yeah, if you give him a tool box, he will repair your stuff EVERYWHERE! You´ll see the changes.
15) NCR Camp Overhault (Optional)
Just makes Camp McCarran and the Sharecropper Farms more crowded and lively. The soldiers at McCarran wont always carry their body armor, will now relax, gamble or just go for a shit. But its optional. You may install it, too if you want.
16) Optics Enhancer Visual Regulator Module (Optional)
When you get the Optics Enhancer Implant you also get a Visual Effects Regulator. Now you can change the look of your surroundings IMAGINATOR style xD !!!But WITHOUT THE USE OF NVSE!!! You can mix the styles at your liking!
17) PROJECT NEVADA + DLC VERSION OF SFS (ALTERNATIVE)
Because Project Nevada contains many features similar or even equal to Vanilla-SFS, I decided to delete many of the original SFS-features in this version of the mod. So I basically deleted features 1)-7) and 11)-12), because Project Nevada does it already more or less. Also it is NOT compatible with 15)-16). Still in this version of SFS there is animated eating, drinking, stimpaking, smoking, healing, taking drugs and even drunk walking and vomiting!!! WITH BASICALLY ALL THE INGESTIBLES FROM THE DLCs!!! The improved NCR Emergency Radio, as well as many minor changes and improvements, which shouldnt conflict with other mods, are also supported in this version.

Requires:
- Fallout New Vegas (for the 5.3 (vanilla) version of the mod)

(I´m not quite sure, if you need ALL the DLCs. Why? Read the "How to install"-section a little below.)
Well, since it´s a mod that changes the gameplay COMPLETELY, it´s VANILLA version is uncompatible with mods that try to do the same. Still I tried to minimize the conflicts. That means that it conflicts with:
- Mods that change something in the vanilla weapons
- Mods that change something in the weapon repair lists
- Mods that change something in the vanilla ammo
- Mods that change something in the vanilla ingestibles
Bugs and other issues:
- I heard and experienced the problem, that when you pick up cigarettes, cigarette packs and cigarette cartons your game crashes. Well I´ve got bad news and good news. Bad news: I don´t have a goddamn idea, why this is happening! Good news: There is a solution! Place SFS somewhere else in your load order (preferably SFS should be loaded after all your other mods, but i don´t think its NECESSARY) If your game still crashes, punch yourself in the face or just contact me, reporting your problem as clear as possible!
Ah, yeah: How to install?
Just like every other mod! Copy the .esp files in your data folder and check them in the games menu -> data files. How to deinstall? Just delete the .esp files!
If you have a previous version of the mod: DELETE IT FIRST and then install the new one.
If you are using Project Nevada and the official DLCs, then ONLY USE the "SFS for Project Nevada.esp" delete all the other versions of SFS and its optional files.
Oh, yeah: one important thing. I made the Project Nevada and DLC version of the mod using the esm.´s of the four official DLCs (Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road) as well as the two esms of Project Nevada (Core and Equipment). I don´t know if SFS is gonna work, if you DONT have ALL of the 4 official DLCs AND the 2 Project Nevada modules. Give it a try and report!

UPDATE: Version 5.3:
- Stimpaks rebalanced (In Hardcore Mode: HP +1 (+3 with fast methapolism) (60s) ). In Hardcore Mode Stimpaks now heal your limbs VERY SLIGHTLY, too. I did it this way because usual food items gave you more hp than the stimpaks what is odd.
- Whetstones repairing changed. Instead of using them as a weapon repair kit, the whetstones are now simple repair items for bladed weapons. (Makes it feel less mod-like)

- Improved Stopping Power system! Now stopping power depends on the bullet, the type/size of enemy, the weapon and the armor the bad guy is wearing! Furthermore the corpses don´t fly 20 yards away from ya after shooting them anymore! But be AWARE: The combat is even more deadly now! Like always: NVSE is !!!NOT!!! required!
- With some melee weapons you can now knock out your enemy on a critical hit. Asuming the enemy is a human and is NOT wearing solid head protection!
- Pimp Outfit and Pimp hat added to one of the upgraded Lucky 38 Wardrobes. Like allways: only ORIGINAL GAME meshes and textures were used!
