About this mod

This mod for New Vegas is the New Vegas edition of my Gene Tonics mod for Fallout 3. It allows players to cast what are essentially spells. This includes incinerating enemies and summoning creatures.

What's new?
Now Vault 70 is an actual in-game location that you can travel to. It is right next to Cotton Wood Cove. The Vault has had some minor renovations and there is a new feature:
"Gene Brewery-amatics" basically they're items which spawn a Gene Brewery next to the Player and put a map marker near them - so you can fast travel back later. Talk to Bravo-70 for more information. (You will need to ask him "Where can I find Omni Protein bottles blah blah blah" again to add the new dialogue option.

INSTALL

You should be able to use FOMM to make the rar file into a FOMOD then let it copy over the other files. If not just extract the files and put the .bsa and .esm files into the Data Folder over the originals

Remember: If you want to make your own Tonics download the tutorial- now in PDF format!




==IMPORTANT==

The Tonics work and are in game. You just have to search the Mojave Wasteland for the things you need.
There is an optional tutorial to download, which tells you how to make your own Gene Tonics, for other modders - that's right you can make your own with the GECK! And all you need is a copy of Fallout New Vegas and this mod!
Why have I made a guide to make your own? Because I've only made a limited number of tonics. But instead of you wishing there was a Tonic to do this or that and relying on me to make it; you can make it yourself!
If you make some new Tonics feel free to release them. Just give due credit to me.

Installing

To install the mod simply activate the FOMOD with the FOMM.

Uninstalling

To uninstall the mod, delete the Vegas-Tonics.bsa and Vegas-Tonics.esm files.

Description

General
This mod for New Vegas is the New Vegas edition of my Gene Tonics mod for Fallout 3. It allows players to cast what are essentially spells. This includes incinerating enemies and summoning creatures.

Story
This mod continues the story of the previous Gene Tonics as players will not get to visit the mysterious Vault 70. This should be familiar to those who have played Gene Tonics.
To gain the benefit of the Gene Tonics, players will have to find Vault 70 and uncover its secrets!

Gene Tonics System

The system for using the Tonics this time has been changed from the Fallout 3 version. The mod now makes use of New Vegas’ introduced alchemy system. This time players will have to find certain ingredients to make the Tonics at the Brewery. (One empty Gene Tonic bottle; an “Omni-protein Boosta Canister” and the Schematics for the Tonics.)
Also Tonics are no longer activated by the Pip-boy light. They are taken the same way as medicines. This means they are easier to use, as the item can be hot-keyed; you don’t have to loose your Pip-boy light and there is not the cumbersome effect of having several Tonics working all at the same time.
This also introduces a new challenge for players. Instead of being able to keep casting the Tonic whenever, you will only have a supply of 10 tonics per ‘brewing’ and with each use you will loose 1 lot of that type of Tonic. This means that the Tonics are more like the Elder Scrolls’ temporary scrolls. To make up for this, Action Points are not removed when using Tonics.
Players will be able to upgrade Gene Tonics which they have, since players can only make Gene Tonics if their Medicine skill is 25, every 25 points the same recipe will yield a more advanced version of the Gene Tonics. For example if your skill with Medicine is 50, the recipe for “Spawn Super-Mutant” will yield a “Spawn Nightkin” Gene Tonic.
