To generate the Tree LODs for this mod you can use XLODGEN
To anyone generating tree lod in addition to needing xLodGen you will need the mod Lod Fixes and Improvements - NVSE which will help fix the previously broken tree lod system that didn’t used to work in new vegas.
This way you will be able to generate proper tree lod.
Hi vurt. Very, very unlikely, but would you ever consider doing animations for the foliage in your mods, or allowing others to? Ashens2014 does a lot of cool animation mods that make plants and other objects actually sway like there's some sort of breeze, but unfortunately it relies on the vanilla meshes to function. Would be really cool to see such high quality models mixed with such animation.
VNV guide doesn't even mention to install WFTO. Do not jump to conclusion so fast. Rolvalkz talk about people who want to install WFTO on top of the VNV guide, which is quite different.
With the new version after an extensive search for which mod was ctd'ing me this is the one that was causing it. I turned off everything in MO2, this one will CTD my game if turned on ALONE with the DLC only, and will CTD my game no matter how many mods I put with it as well. The performance pack kind of fixed the issue, I could get out of Doc Mitchel house but then after 5 seconds the game freezes even If I use the patch available on the Nexus (outdated) that tries to fix it. Used to work perfectly in older versions, I even hand checked any conflicts with any mods in FNVEdit (not using a filter, I literally scrolled through everything myself) but no such luck. Maybe its the textures and a problem with the GPU I don't know. I've been modding this game for ages now and its the first time I have no idea anymore. I have a 3070ti, 32gb Ram and a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor.
Fresh install with no fixes (no 4GB patch, no NVSE fixes or ENB): 100 FPS with a 3090, doesn't go below it from what i've seen, "stuck" at 99-102 FPS. 7800x3D CPU. No issues at all.
Thats what Im saying, maybe its a GPU specific problem (happened with FO4). I will try to use the older versions, had no problems with those. I use the GOG version its already 4GB patched, MO2 to delete everything and only WFO and DLC ticked. I'm with you, I have no fucking idea and I'm usually good at modding anything in this game. If I find something I'll let you know
Hey just letting you know and for anyone looking for a fix for the crashes, two things fixed the problem for me and it was and wasn't related to this mod.
What I did was set the "bModifyDirectXBehavior" line in New Vegas Tick Fix .ini to "1" instead of "0" and set my GPU to performance mode on New Vegas exe. This mod is kind of heavy with the textures, nowadays this is common but New Vegas wasn't built for that. The modified DirectX behaviour enables more memory and handles it better (doesnt matter if you have 32gb like me or 8gb RAM the game breaks long before) and that also explains why the performance textures enabled me to go outside with like 2fps. No more problems now.
I proof tested this "fix" with all previous mods enabled and this mod and NMC textures are the ones who made this "fixes" necessary for me.
PS: I also crossed references for conflicts with all famous plugins like YUP, Vanilla and DLC enhancements, Unofficial NVSE fixes, LOD fixes, Landscape enhancement mod, landscape disposition fix, misc gameplay merge, a world of pain with Sweet Pain mod, all new vegas bounties mods (Legendary editions included), Vault 22 Flora Overhaul, Strip Lights fix, Afterglow, enhanced vegas ruins, all cut content restoration mods, funcional post game ending mods, little more lamplight, LightBright Strip Overhaul, windows of the mojave, rooftops of the mojave and got no significant conflicts if anyone is interested to know.
I also use the mods here you mentioned. With the latest version of WFO, I seem to crashing down near the Old Nuclear Test Site and Caesar's Legion Safehouse... due to NV Star Bottle Cap script? The crash log may reveal more but with WFO disabled, it doesn't crash:
that tree should have LOD though, cause i remeber making it for that tree. I could be mistaken, it has been a while, but i'm pretty sure i did that tree.
Love the mod, but there's one glaring issue for me. There are small Joshua tree bushes (such as those just across the north-south street from Doc's house in Goodsprings) that show up as very low res 2d textures. Is there any fix for that or can I change them back to the vanilla meshes/textures? Thanks. Here's the imgur link: https://imgur.com/a/L7P5vlZ
likely a mod conflict, some other mod doing some edit to the landscape perhaps.
but the engine is also terrible and buggy and sometimes it just won't work. with my fallout 3 mod i have that issue sometimes, and sometimes i've installed it and it worked fine..
The conflict was with 'VNV Pre-Generated LOD', part of the Viva New Vegas install. I disabled it and it was no longer placing the low res textures on top of your high res. I tried to find the specific yucca files in that mod to remove them so I could keep the rest of the mod intact, but no luck.
how did you test though? doesn't say a lot if you just unticked this mod and it didn't crash. did you try unticking all other mods and just had this mod enabled, did it crash then? i doubt it. when the game starts crashing it often means you're just using way more memory / resources than what your computer is capable of. This mod is very demanding in terms of that since it adds a lot of new meshes, textures etc.
been using it for 2 playthroughs + the usual fixes for the game, extremely stable..
Process of elimination. Started disabling mods until the game started working again, then enabling mods until the game started crashing. I don't get what you're saying about not enough memory/resources... how 8GB could be not enough RAM to run a game from 2010...?
8GB is very little RAM, also a good amount of vram is recommended if you are using a lot of mods.
How is it relevant that the game is from 2010? the base game from 2010 can be run on a very old computer, a modded game is a whole other thing, the game can need anything from the best possible computer you can get in 2023 to an old computer, it all depends on the mods and how many.
your "process of elimination" doesn't work. i can almost guarantee you that the game works fine if you use the base game + SFO + perhaps some of the memory fixes available (such as the ENB one). A lot of reading up is required to run this game modded, hours of if it, or following a guide which explains how to run it without issues such as memory issues.
I have 32 Gb Ram in a 3070ti, I THINK I can run this game pretty good but the fps goes to s#*! and ctds. I tested this with NOTHING else activated. I have no idea wtf is going on here but it seems to be the textures since the performence patch fixed it even tough my rig is pretty good for this game
Do you mean the Performance Textures optional file or the 1024 medium resolution main version? The 1024 main version recreates every texture with new mipmaps and in 1024 at largest. Performance Textures only textures/vurt (grass will still be 2048x2048, for example).
I really don't know. I would absolutely recommend getting every NVSE fix for the game and also using ENB to get better memory handling. When i replayed the game i remember having at least 4 or maybe even 5 nvse fixes, they did wonders for the game including less stutter + of course ENB. There are so many fixes for this game, and they do actually work, been years since i did a replay i believe so i bet some of those fixes are even better in 2024. edit: The 4GB patch is something i also used.
I checked my FPS with performance textures, it's 100 FPS, with standard version (2048 textures and above) still 100 FPS, it doesn't seem to go below. This is with no fixes, no enb or 4GB patch etc. fresh install.

if the mod was like 10 trees i likely would have animated them already, 100+ is a whole other thing.
Edit: it's not specifically this mod, FNVLODGEN just decimates my FPS regardless. My PC can definitely handle s#*!, the engine is just garbage

if they were truly floating above ground/water then they would be taller and not cut off like that.
Spent more time than id like to admit until i figured this out.
So that VNV guide isn't from someone that knows his stuff.

GAME CRASHED AT INSTRUCTION Base+0x0089F1F1 IN MODULE: H:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FalloutNV.exe
Please note that this does not automatically mean that that module is responsible. It may have been supplied bad data or
program state as the result of an issue in the base game or a different DLL.
Thanks.
Here's the imgur link: https://imgur.com/a/L7P5vlZ
but the engine is also terrible and buggy and sometimes it just won't work. with my fallout 3 mod i have that issue sometimes, and sometimes i've installed it and it worked fine..
been using it for 2 playthroughs + the usual fixes for the game, extremely stable..
Started disabling mods until the game started working again, then enabling mods until the game started crashing.
I don't get what you're saying about not enough memory/resources... how 8GB could be not enough RAM to run a game from 2010...?
How is it relevant that the game is from 2010? the base game from 2010 can be run on a very old computer, a modded game is a whole other thing, the game can need anything from the best possible computer you can get in 2023 to an old computer, it all depends on the mods and how many.
your "process of elimination" doesn't work. i can almost guarantee you that the game works fine if you use the base game + SFO + perhaps some of the memory fixes available (such as the ENB one). A lot of reading up is required to run this game modded, hours of if it, or following a guide which explains how to run it without issues such as memory issues.
