THE MOD FEATURES:
============================

World Posters on its own is a simple ESP file. With this ESP file and its contents you will be able to create your own posters for use in the game world itself.

You will be able to use YOUR own images, configure them in the NV-GECK and allow them to be viewed in the game at a location of YOUR own choosing.

After the poster has been placed in the game world you will be able to enlarge it, make it smaller, move it around etc using the NV-GECK tool. Do not worry as the poster itself is not a solid object and no NPC will suddenly out of nowhere get bumped on the cranium =P.

====================================================================================================================================================================================
REQUIREMENTS:
=======================

This mod in order to provide anything for the game must first meet the following requirements. I can NOT do this for you but I can guide you, however only YOU can make it happen.

1. "GIMP" a freeware tool used for creating/editing images is required from the official site. It is a free-to-use program and can teach you lots when it comes to image type files. Link for download is below.
http://www.gimp.org/

2. "GIMP dds plugin" is also required for the GIMP program. Dds files are used by games as "textures". Link for download is below.
http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/downloads/detail?name=gimp-dds-win32-2.0.9.zip

3. The "Fallout: New Vegas GECK" tool is required.

====================================================================================================================================================================================
HOW TO CREATE POSTERS:
============================

At first glance this can seem very complex and difficult to grasp, however bare with me as I explain step by step what you must do and it will be done in no time while you also gain more understanding of creating your own dds files and editing images using GIMP.

First I am going to instruct you on how to take any image and convert it into a dds file that can be recognised by the NV-GECK tool.

1. Launch the "GIMP" program.
2. Load the image of YOUR choosing (remember I NEVER supply any image/dds files you must use your own!) into the program. I recemmend a image with a resolution size of 900x700 or larger.
3. Ok now at the top of the GIMP window find "Image" and select "Scale Image". Before making any changes you will notice 2 icons that look like "metal chains" and BOTH should appear to be broken and NOT attached.
4. Now for "width" and "height" enter in 512 for both.
5. For "X resolution" and "Y resolution" enter in 72 again for both. Make no other changes and select the "Scale" option.
6. Your image should now be rescaled to the new resolution. This is required so that the image can "fit" onto the mesh which is required for the game.
7. Now simply go to "File" and select "Save As" and enter in a NEW title name for your file. Make sure to check and confirm that the extension of the file is DDS. For example it could show as "My Image 01.DDS".
8. Now for the "Save" location go to the following directory "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Textures\Candora's Box - World Posters".
9. Now inside the "Textures01" folder save your new DDS file.
10. All done!

Now its time to use the NV-GECK tool to create your very own poster with your own image added to it!

1. Open uo the NV-GECK tool, select my mod as the active Data and load the plugin.
2. Now on the left where you have your different category selections such as NPC, Weapons, Container etc you should choose "Texture Set".
3. Now to the right in the other window locate in the list the entry "000ptMainTexture01" and choose to edit.
4. The new window that appears may seem a bit confusing but no need to worry because you only need to make 1 simple change.
5. Now in the small-window where it says "Diffuse" simply left-click so that it is highlighted. Now with that selection highlighted go to where it says "Texture" right below and select "Image".
6. Now simply locate the DDS file that you should have created earlier and saved in the "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Textures\Candora's Box - World Posters\Textures01" directory. Load the DDS file and it should appear to be visible.
7. Now thats finished save your changes by selecting "OK".
8. Now again on the left among the categories locate and select "Static" and again from the list of entries on the right locate the Static file "000pmMainMesh01" and select.
9. Now where it says "Model" select "Edit" which can be seen just to the right.
10. Now looking carefully you should see where it says "000ptMainTexture01" and if not select it (double-click) and from the list find the relevant Texture Set file.
11. When done select OK and as the window closes again select OK to save your changes.
12. All done! Your poster is created!

And last but not least we need to add your newly created poster into the game world using the "Render window" which should be seen all the way to the right. But first you need to decide where you want your poster to actually be found in the world itself. With the Render window you should notice the "Cell View" window and at the top of that window you will see "World Space" and a drop-down menu where you can select your cell of choice. If you have finished the game a few times and are experienced with the NV-GECK tool then choose any cell but if not then choose "Interiors" and select any cell of your choice which you know.

1. After you have found the cell of choice right-click it from the list and select "View". After waiting for what should be a moment the cell of your choice will appear in the "Render Window".
2. Now that the cell is loaded you should search and explore the cell for where you wish to place your poster in the game world.
3. Now from the right left-click (and hold) your "000pmMainMesh01" file from the list and drag it to the render window.
4. Your poster should now appear in the game world and the image should be visible.
5. Good work! Now you can edit the Static object in the Render Window and move it around, make it smaller/larger and other cool stuff.
6. All finished, good job!

INSTALL/UNINSTALL:
============================

(the downloadable files are located in a ZIPPED type folder)

1. Download the folder containing all required files and save it to a location of your own choosing.
2. Open the designated folder containing all required files. Copy the "Data" folder and paste it to the Fallout 3: New Vegas folder (do NOT paste the downloaded "Data" folder inside the same Data folder which already exists in your Fallout 3: New Vegas folder).
3. If you get a prompt message saying "file already exists, overite?" you should choose "yes for all".
4. You should also have the correct Mod Manager tool installed to easily activate the esp/esm files from the list.
5. Using Mod Manager remove the ArchiveInvalidation! file and create a fresh new one to avoid texture and mesh problems.
6. Launch game, enjoy and report any bugs.

To uninstall simply delete the esp/esm files that you no longer want as well as the mesh/texture files.

FAQ:
============================

Q: Dude how the hell do I get this GIMP dds plugin file to work!?
A: Relax... take a deep breath... and don't call me dude. This is how you get the plugin to work.

1. Open the ZIP folder you should have downloaded that contains the "GIMP dds plugin" file.
2. Right-click the file and choose "Copy".
3. Now go to "C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins". This may vary depending on your system configuration and the current GIMP version.
4. Now simply paste the file to the "plug-ins" folder.
5. All done!

Q: I can't be bothered to get my own images and convert them to dds, can you put some dds files up for download?
A: HELL NO... never gonna happen.

Q: Do I have to refresh Archive Invalidation using NVMM?
A: Yes!

CREDIT/THANKS:
=======================

Lets not forget Bethesda Softworks for bringing us this brilliantly fantastic game... even if it was initially bland =P. But my hat goes off to you all for allowing us to use the GECK tool to modify and generalise the game to our own image! Thank you!

Enjoy the Candora's Box - World Posters mod!
