The Last Apache

Version 1.2 Hotfix uploaded. fixes a couple small bugs.

Notes:

-Please keep in mind there are still a few minor bugs being corrected. Although most people should not have a problem or notice any of them.

- There are new weapons, armors and item mods scattered about the game. Some of these might be difficult to find and will require you keeping the player to keep their eyes open and search for the items. If the items prove to hard to find, there is a small "guide" included in the download file which lists such things as locations of the different Items and repair lists of each item. There is also a testing container left ingame which contains all the items added by the mod inside victor's shack if the player does not want to search for the items or follow the questline to collect the items.

-To begin the quest line enter Doc Mitchel's home in Goodsprings (the starting location) It should automatically trigger if you start a new game when you reach the end of the intro and are about to leave Doc Mitchel's home (tigger is near door). If it does not, simply leave and re-enter his home.

Notes(Other):
Since several people have asked me how to take good screenshots, I have posted a screenshot tutorial as a text file.

Dear Child,

I regret to inform you that your mother and father were killed. I was visiting with them when several people came to their place in the hills looking for you. We refused to tell the leader anything, and we were all beaten. I was left for dead and barely survived. I buried your parents up a ways behind your cabin where their spirits can look out over the hills.

I'm afraid that all I can tell you about their killers was that the leader was fancy city man wearing a black and white checkered jacket.

With your parents gone, and my wife dead these long years, there's not much holding me here.

I'm moving to New Reno to visit my grandchildren. By the time you receive this letter I'll probably already be gone.

I'm leaving you my ranch. I've placed a few supplies for you and a map to my ranch in an old battered house at a place called Wolfhorn Ranch.

Remember always that your parents loved you. Visit them when you can. Now that they are gone, I fear that you are the last of the Apache.

Your favorite "uncle",

Ben "Old Coot" Johnson

Description:

This mod is a joint collaboration between thatguy10 and me (Oldwolfe).

It is primarily a collection of some of my favorite things in the game put together to make a slightly different atmosphere.

The Main Mod:

The Last Apache Main Mod includes some additional weapons, clothing, and player homes all to create the flavor of playing a Native American character.

Don't expect things to be completely traditional. After all, we're talking about modern (well, 1950ish) Apache, not Geronimo's personal warriors.

Nothing in this mod is overpowered. While the weapons are fairly powerful, they are not more so than existing vanilla weapons in the game.

Since they take a bit of traveling to get to, a starting character shouldn't feel as if the gear is being handed to them on a silver platter.

You don't HAVE to play as an Apache. You can just be someone who find the note. This is set up in a very modular fashion so you only have to download the elements you want.

Basically, the Main Mod will start with a container on Doc Mitchell's front porch. (Once the beta version is ready for release.)

This is NOT a high tech mod in any sense at all. It is geared towards realistic and gritty, with an eye towards a 1950s feel.

The Dark and Dirty Interface:

The Dark and Dirty Interface is a rather large optional file that combines many other interface mods into one package. It also includes re-skins for both the Readius and Pipboy 3000. If you don't use the Readius, then the "Dirty and Rusty" Pipboy will display. If you use the Readius, my "Apache Readius" re-skin will automatically display.

If you want to use a different skin for your Readius or Pipboy, all you have to do is install that skin AFTER you install the Dark and Dirty Interface and overwrite any files.

If playing a female character, I recommend the vaultGirlStatus mod.

Pointing Crosshair:

I thought that all the non-aiming crosshairs I've seen are just too precise for an unaimed snapshot. Yet when I tried removing the crosshair completely, that was simply too inaccurate. I wanted something that would be subtle, inobtrusive, but would give the feel of just pointing quickly. And it couldn't be dependent on available light, because pointing isn't.

This is what I came up with.

Other Optional Mods:

There are several other optional mods that are designed to add to the player's experience in using "The Last Apache." These include level 1 Saved Games with Native American facial features, new loading screen, wolf companion, alterations to perks, and hopefully replacement music, someday. (If we can ever resolve the copyright / public domain issues.)

Requirements:

Fallout New Vegas

-Project Mikoto- Beauty Pack required to make use of the optional starting "savedgame" Native American look faces.

Currently Known Issues:
-Some NPC's face color will not change to match skin color.
-Ranch can be slow and have performance issues on some computers.
-Applying mods to 1875 Frontier can in some cases cause a CTD
-The water in the reservoir at the cabin has a strange graphic oddity.
-The oven in the cabin doesn't function with the "Oven Cooking" Mod.

These are being worked on, feel free to report any other bugs in the comments section, or send me a private message
-TG(ThatGuy)

Compatibility:

The MTUI mod is compatible with the Dark and Dirty Interface here.
-Any Pipboy 3000 or Readius skin is compatible with the Dark and Dirty Interface. Just install the -interface first then install any skin you want to use to overwrite the skins we're providing.
-Wolf Rex doesn't work with the Phalanx Mod. He reverts back to being a cyberdog.
-The Apache Perk Pak may conflict with other mods that change perks.
-Any mod which edits the following locations, might conflict with this mod:
-Spring Mountain
-Outside of Bitter Springs
-Victors Shack
-Wolfhorn Ranch
-Doc Mitchels House
-Southern Nevada Wind Farm
*To avoid most conflicts, place the "OW&TG Western Mod.esp" after the conflicting mod in the load list.

Installation:

Most the components of this mod are set up in such a way as to be able to simply drop them into your data folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data

To install one of the optional starting "savedgame" Native American look faces: copy and paste into Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Saves folder.
You can then change the character's name in-game by hitting ~ (tilde) to open the console and typing in: /shownamemenu and entering your preferred name.
