About this mod

Adds Knockout Gas grenades. (Moved from Fallout3nexus).

Just uploaded, if i forgot something, or made a small mistake, simply tell me.


IMPORTANT: In order to get the sounds to work, you need to unpack them from your Fallout 3 BSA (not NV). scroll to bottom to find instructions on how to do that. If you don't move the sound file over, the only difference will be that you won't hear anything when you use the grenades.

Description

Adds Knockout Gas to the game.
You can find some in Doc Mitchell's house, behind the chair he sits in at the start of the game if you want to get them for free and test them, or you can buy some from Chet in Goodsprings.

No Unique meshes or textures, I don't know how to do either (aside from slightly recoloring) The grenade uses the Stun Grenade mesh.
What does it do?

Knockout Gas has a paralyze and knockdown effect that lasts for 2 minutes, knocking the npc (and/or you, depending on which esp you get) unconcious.


Install
-------
Choose which esp you want first.

Knockout gas - With Masks : adds the grenades to the game, and most headgear that should prevent you from breathing in the gas, will.

Knockout gas - Doesn't Effect Player : adds the grenades to the game, but they only effect npcs, not you. (has the least chance of conflicting with other mods)

Knockout gas - Effects player - no mask : adds the grenades to the game, which will effect both npcs and the player, but the headgear will NOT prevent the gas from effecting you (if you use this esp, the gas will paralyze you for 2 minutes if you stand too close to it when it "explodes"

unpack and extract to your Fallout NV data folder (see bottom for details on installing sound)

Uninstall
---------
Remove the esp. from the Data folder. And, if you got it, delete "amb_steampool_lp" from your sound folder.

Known/Possible Bugs or glitches
-------------------------------

In the Fallout 3 version, some people had issues with crashing when using it on some npcs (eyebots), But, they work slightly different in NV, so i'm not sure if the glitch carried over.

the "gas" doesn't show up too well in some areas.

When the grenades "explode" near you, the PC grunts as if he was hit, as far as i know, i can't fix this issue.

The esp that includes helmets to prevent you from gassing yourself will conflict with any mod that adds scripts to any of the helmets i added scripts to.

UNPACKING SOUND FILES

To unpack the required sound files, open up a program that can unpack BSA files (I use Fallout Mod Manager) click on tools (if using Fallout Mod Manager) and click on "BSA unpacker", select "Open", make sure you're in your fallout 3 Data Folder, and choose "Fallout-sound". Scroll through the list until you find "Sounds/fx/amb/amb_steampool_lp" extract it and place it in your Fallout New Vegas Data folder, in "Sounds/fx/Amb" if you don't have a folder under that location, you will have to create one. If any part of this explanation is unclear, message me or comment about which part and i'll try to reword it.
