You'd need to edit the script in the GECK to remove the if/endif that checks if you're in an interior. (And the bit that shows the message about not being able to light a campfire inside.)
sooo idk if its because of other mods i have or im not reading this mod right, but i cant find any of the portable campsites at any of the listed shops.
This suggests that the mod is not actually installed/enabled, since it simply adds containers to the same cells as the respective merchants (outside the playable area) and sets them to be owned by those merchants. It can't really conflict with anything.
Sorry, I've never used TTW. (Simply because I haven't wanted to go back to FO3 since FNV came out.)
For what it's worth I did make a similar (though not as good) mod for FO3 way back in the day: Portable Mattress. I'm not familiar enough with TTW to know if relatively simple mods made for FO3 like that would work with TTW, but there it is.
console command for the bedroll is player.additem PBBedroll01Placer and campfire is player.additem PBCampfire01Placer. I don't personally consider this cheating (as mentioned in the description) since you can't buy the items when playing TTW, but if the mod author does please remove this comment. I labeled it as just TTW support instead of saying it's the console command so hopefully only legit TTW users will look at it.
Pretty cool, having a weird bug where the bedrolls will be placed vertically instead of lying on the ground in some places. Anyone else have this and figure out what causes it to know what to do to avoid it?
Haven't heard of that before. The deployed bedroll should align to the position/orientation of the placer item, which indicates what the dimensions of the deployed bedroll will be with its straps.
Hmm ok at least that info about the straps should should let me know if it will me correct before I deploy it, or if I need to try moving it, so I can avoid breaking game immersion by deploying in the incorrectly oriented state. That's good to know. There were some places, sometimes on slanted ground, or even on the road under a bridge were it for some reason would drop with straps up in the air. Knowing that, and now knowing the straps should be flat on the ground, and making the adjustment jred250 added in his comment so I can be sure of where I'm dropping it from inventory, hopefully that should let me avoid the issue most the time.
Alright, I started to have a problem with this mod. When I would release the Campfire object from my inventory, I often could not find it after the fact. If you are out in the middle of the wasteland in the middle of the night, it is hard to find the campfire. I didn't quite know what was going on. First, I went into FNVEdit to see if scripting was placing the Campfire, but the only scripts that I saw were to take the item and transform it into a lit campire and put it away when done. I was baffled. I spent some time in the Small Ranch in Springvale (I'm using Tale of Two Wastelands) and I was able to determine the problem. When I was releasing the Portable Campsite object, the physics were flinging the damn thing across the house. I thought that the campfire wasn't being spawned, it totally was, the Havok physics were just flinging it across the wasteland and I just couldn't find it.
If you encounter this issue, there is a way to fix it if you use FNVEdit. Load the PortableCampsite.esp in FNVEdit. Expand the Misc. Item section in PortableCampsite.esp. Click on the PBCampfire01Placer record. Change the OBND - Object Bounds values to
X1: -10 Y1: -17 Z1: -7 X2: 10 Y2: 17 Z2: 7
If you are wondering how I arrived to these specific values, I just copied the Object Bounds from the Pressure Cooker object in FalloutNV.esm. Now when I release the Portable Campsite item, it plops down right in front of me. I didn't have problems with the Portable Bedroll, but if you end up having issues not being able to find it when you release it, then you should be able to use the above method to fix it as well.
Interesting. I actually didn't think the object bounds values did anything, since the GECK seems to change them randomly sometimes. Perhaps they do for certain things.
But yeah, physics objects in Bethsoft games... well, what can you say? With the placers in Portable Campsite I would often drop them and then immediately take a step back so as to avoid drop-kicking them.
Thanks! The bed rolls where getting tossed behind me in weird ways that were annoying and this allowed me to fix them as well!
You didn't ever happen to have an issue with the bed rolls being deployed vertically and standing on their edge and find a fix did you? Other than that occasional oddity breaking immersion, the mod is great.
Cool. Was hoping for something like this. I wish we had a simpler/more basic fire design though, that's not the concrete blocks, as I don't think we'd lug those around or always be able to find them to set up a fire.
Great extremely simple mod, and weighs less than the Roughin' It kit (bedroll is 3 pounds versus the Roughin' It kit which weighs 15 pounds, campfire is 2 pounds), which makes it the most usable solution for people with hardcore mods that give us low carry weight.
