About this mod

An alternative to the pre-order sets, for those who didn\'t pre-order the game, can\'t legally get those DLC, and don\'t want to feel left out. I\'ve remade the sets of equipment from scratch using vanilla resources, and added them to the game by means of perk selection during chargen.

This mod aims to offer an alternative to the Pre-Order DLC mods by providing the player with similar starting equipment which utilizes vanilla assets. To make things more interesting, each package of equipment is tied to one of four trait perks you can pick during chargen. The perks are designed to imply some sort of personal history behind the character you are playing as well as explaining just where some of those goodies came from. The perks each have their own benefits and limitations which are aimed at directing the player toward a different playstyle. If you just want the equipment without the perk bonuses you can just pick new perks before leaving goodsprings.

I must stress that this mod is simply an alternative to the pre-order DLCs in that it grants the same basic benefits but lacks the specialy textured versions that came with the DLC. The versions contained in this mod do not override any vanilla or DLC forms.

Description of perks-

Vault Background
Having spent much of your life in and around vaults has given you increased science skill (+5) and an additional skill point per level to spend on skills. Unfortunately being sheltered for most of your life has led to a reduced ability to resist the effects of radiation (-20pt. rad resist). This perk will also grant you access to some vault-related starting equipment.

Caravan Background
Your background of working within a caravan grants you the ability to carry more weight (+25) and increases barter skill slightly (+5). But your familiarity with life in settlements has left you with reduced initial ability with melee weapons (-5) and made you more prone to addiction (150% chance). This perk will also grant you to caravan starting equipment.

1x Special caravan shotgun
4x Repair kits
15x 20 guage shells

Tribal Background
Your tribal background grants you higher initial survival skill (+5) and slightly increased movement speed when running (105%). But your departure from technology decreases your initial ability to use energy weapons (-5) and limits your ability at hacking terminals (75%). This perk will also grant you access to some tribal starting equipment.

Mercenary Background
Your experiences working as a hired gun in the wasteland grant you a higher ability with explosives (+5) and better control of all firearms (90% spread rate). However this higher concentration means actions are slightly more costly when using VATS (110% cost). This perk will also grant you access to some mercenary starting equipment.

Raider Background
Having spent much of your life in and around the ruins of the wasteland has made you skilled at lockpicking (+5) and taught you how to shoot faster when not fighting off addiction (110%). Unfortunately years of chem abuse has made their positive effects last half as long as normal (50%), and left you with naturally lower AP levels (-5). This perk will also grant you access to some Raider-related starting equipment. (Only available in Chargen)

3x Jet

Deserter Background
You were assigned to a post in the Mohave which you have recently abandoned. About the only thing you learned from your "training" was a little bit of skill in unarmed combat (+5) and have become more resistant to damage (8%). As ammo was simply given to you, you are less likely to save spent ammo components. This perk will also grant you access to some trooper starting equipment. (Only available in Chargen)

1x Combat Knife

Law Background
You were a deputy until your home town was raided while you were on patrol. Your experiences grant you higher skill with firearms (+5) and a bonus to damage against evil opponents (10%). However, loss weighs heavily on your heart slowing weapon reload rate when not well rested (90% normal) and has made you more distant when dealing with others (-5 speech). This perk will also grant you access to some law-related starting equipment. (Only available in Chargen)

# Merc grenade launcher seems to do little damage, probably vanilla issue. Incendiary grenades hopefully compensate for this.
