Chick fallen from the nest. Good analogy.

Some idioms just won't work in a one to one translation. This was as close as I could think of. I'm happy it makes sense. Thank you Laird

That's why Daphne hit me so hard. She's just like Val. Makes perfect sense. :)
    Another very entertaining chapter. :D

When you introduced Daphne Renfrew, from the way Garrett described her, my first thought was that he was going to add her to his harem.  As I continued reading, my thoughts changed.  However, with this installment, it seems that my first thoughts were on the money and he might be looking to add her.
And, you left me banging my desk with the ending of this section.  I was really getting into the story and a ghostly apparition appears and the narration ends.
How could you leave your fans hanging like this?

He's called Cliff. He makes an appearance when KB man needs him to. ;)

Nah. KB man just thinks he controls the flow. Cliff is omnipresent and pounces when he is least expected.

Sorry M48 - or maybe not Blame it on Cliff. And Cormell. He's had a bad influence on me Well.... Scribe Renfrew popped up out of nowhere. I had done a couple of new NPCs and knew when- and how to introduce them. And suddenly Daphne came running in from nowhere. And she had a story to tell. At first she was nothing but a name. Why did that name pop up? I have no idea. I just knew that I needed a person for that name. If nothing else she'd be worth a half page. Now....? I honestly don't know. I honestly didn't know about her say... five chapters back. But the story sometimes seem to have a life of its own. And not neccesarily going along with my notes and timeline
      Thank you very much Mate

Dang it Cliff, cut that out!

This young ladies got a lot of growing up and learning to do, but she's got some grit to her. Can't imagine humping 80 lbs. of gear overland through some rough terrain and then apologizing that you slowed the guards down. Hell, most of the folks I know couldn't lift an 80 lbs. pack, much less do a hump like that. Including me, lol. Been forever since I had to do it, and I've gotten old since then. Damn if I can recall exactly when that happened.

And it appears that things in the BoS are even tighter, supply-wise, than I would have thought.

Thank you very much for your comment Dave. As always much appreciated 80 pounds = 36 kilograms. Yes - that's a lot. I wouldn't like it either. I'd probably have trouble even just shouldering it by myself But.... the way I figure it: 1 - she's young. 2: she'd need to undergo compulsory training in the gym. Like anyone else in the bunker. I know my wife's son is required to undergo an annual physical test. He's a technical Sergeant in our Airforce. Responsible for a workshop of a couple of score grease monkeys. Still - he must keep fit. And I deduce that you won't dispatch a scribe- or knight with a patrol without making sure they can carry their own load.
