      It was a nightmare. Argh. I'm going to have to switch to Win 10 eventually, but people have discovered workarounds for a lot of the issues I was having with Win 10, so when I have to do it, hopefully it'll work out a lot easier now than it did then. Thanks, Rev!

      Can imagine that.. Already jars me when my game doesn't load because of any wrong content implemented
      (which happens kinda each second day) Gladly there are a lot of fixes been done for the win10 nowadays.
      Tho I'll game my win7 engine 'til the very dying end.

    Unfortunately I've not even been able to ninja endorse, at least you're back up and running FBC! :) Juliet's been hopping universes lately, she's currently in character sheet form at the moment, so that's a different yet fun adventure for the both of us. :P

    Good to see a post from you. You could make a story of all the trial's of your last year just for material, LOL. Did I ever mention to you that you have a very good back-up site here for your special mods like Raven Race. I suppose you know. Prolly not the most important data lost though, just is what we see and am very happy to see her.

      Hi, Douglas! Thanks for stopping by! I forgot to mention, the night of the catastrophic cloning incident [I must have had a premonition and didn't realize it], I went into the recovered drive and copied all the Raven Race files and the presets for both Skyrim and F4 onto a thumb drive, so thank heavens not was all lost or I would have been fit to be tied. I heartily agree, this has been quite a year so far. Yeesh.

    Oh boy... Knowing that my next PC (Whenever that becomes a possibility) will have to have Windows 10 on it has me a bit nervous now. Though I guess the worst case scenario is that I could install Windows 7 on a VM if I find that 10 is too much of a hassle.

    And if don't mind me asking. How much did your data recovery cost? I recently became the victim of a failed HDD and may be needing the services of a recovery specialist.

      As what I've experienced with having both Windows 7 and 10, they're practically the same, for most games, and for F:NV if you use the recommended settings in NVSR for Windows 10. Honestly, I can't really even tell a difference between them. I've always heard really bad stories with Windows 10, and this is when I had Windows 7, but honestly there's no noticeable difference on my end. Can't even remember the last time crashing with or without Windows 10, and using both has pretty much the same good (standard, the stability in F:NV is s***,) stability as usual. It's only when you get into forsaken messy mod and load order territory where it all goes down the toilet. Not saying Windows 10 *doesn't* do anything, but I haven't had a problem with it. To note, I also just disabled the horrible Game Bar/XBOX screen capture when I got Windows 10, be sure to do that.

      That's pretty much my experience, with a an edit to NVSR's ini New Vegas runs as well as it did under Windows 7, in fact I can't think of one title that doesn't, even old Morrowind runs just fine. I kept the Game Bar, I use the DVR to capture footage for gifs. I would recommend getting the Pro version, you can defer updates with that so any bugs are fixed by the time you get it.

      Hi there, GU! It was $50 to get the data retrieved because only the boot sector had gone bad. I was willing to pay much more because of all the irreplaceable stuff, but I'm glad I didn't after the cloning snafu. Regarding Win 10, I talked to people who use it and the answers ranged from no problems at all to situations like mine, so it could work well for you if you're lucky.

      Thanks for stopping by, Prince. And I'm glad you had no problems with it, wish I could say the same. I talked to a lot of people using Win 10 with NV, and it ranged from no problems at all to a lot of problems. Seriously doubt it's my load order, I've been modding NV since it first came out, so I'm aware of load order and cleaning mods. Had to clean some of my own personal mods I made for NV. The no sound in game problem has me stumped, though I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Win 10 and the hardware sound settings. I did every possible thing I could think of, but the sound just would not work.

      I am so jealous your game worked fine, Jim. I was too afraid to even try to install Morrowind or F3 after all my issues with NV.

    Glad you've sort out the issues with your PC and yes Win10 and even Win11 is annoying as heck, so I stuck with Win8 also. Beautiful screeny of Raven.
