What will this affect?
Fires like the burning barrels
Ambient fires like in Nipton
Acctors lit on fire
Flame from weapons
Ambient smoke
Weapon impacts by bullets or energy
Explosions (ALL OF THEM)
Critical kills by energy guns (all)
Ambient dust, wisps, fog, ect
ash and Goo piles
Muzzle-flaashes (100% every weapon's)
Water drips, jets, spouts, splashes. All ambient water fx
Basically ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that uses vfx textures of any kind.
It makes a massive difference. If you though having clothes, weapons, sky, flora, clutter retextures were important this is just as important as it covers every last visual effect, finally making them look as good as the rest of your super-modded game.
Absolutely looking forward to this and any future creations.
Looking cool man.
All weapons (and statics) in my game that have cubemaps (metal looking reflection) on them look different and better than normal.
Good eye!
Oh, this is really exciting, Weij! This will be so cool!
Acutally any mod at all that uses default fx nifs or points to default fx textures from the game's BSA (core files) would inherently benefit from this just as much as the base game does. (which is literally THOUSANDS of mods)
However, mods like IMPACT and EVE mostly point to their own custom textures so it'll play nice still without adversely affecting mods or making conflicts. No patches needed.
Also, though all the default vfx textures were remade, I kept the overall style and look in place, so that nothing would be so different or jarring. Its basically just a crisp new HD remake instead of a re-imagining or style change.
When can we expect a release? I'll be sure to make a mod showcase for it when it's done
