Fallout New Vegas

The Fallout: New Vegas Resound Project

This project was in the works since late 2018, and it all started with me editing Fallout 3's weapon sounds back in the day. The style has changed drastically since then, it took me quite a while to get everything to sound right and function nominally; especially since Fallout 3/New Vegas have a particular and superb style and sound system that doesn't really work with conventional sound methods... I soon decided that a New Vegas version would be more popular and most likely would be enjoyed by a far larger audience rather than Fallout 3. I decided to completely redo almost all the sounds in New Vegas starting with the stuff I already made for Fallout 3, I soon made huge progress, making tweaks and troubleshooting problems that persisted. I knocked out every gun one by one, skipping several that I didn't have the motivation to do (pulsegun...) but I ended up kicking myself, finally getting it all finished. The reception the WIP video I uploaded two years ago was phenomenal and a lot of people gave constructive criticism, I tweaked and edited where it was needed and achieved a satisfying sound. I ended up deviating from newer assets I bought recently and mixed in old stock from the 90s more and more and got a satisfying sound out of it, whilst not being too generic. The ESP files were the most recent thing; I only recently discovered the volumes of sounds are handled in the GECK vs the actual db levels of the .wav files. I tweaked these to all be balanced and be almost at the same attenuation dB making everything sound like it should; which I'm unsure why Obsidian decided to make certain weapons very quiet(i.e the laser pistol/rifle.) In any case; it all sounds balanced & matches each other and comes out to a satisfying gameplay experience.. well, at least for me.

It has taken a lot of work and time, procrastinating was definitely a thing, but being reminded of it by my friends (Aubri.) I decided to finish up and I finally am able to release it to you and let you enjoy the work I've put into it over the years. Although it may not seem much it was a daunting task and I'm pretty proud of it.
