Fallout New Vegas

Preconfigured lStewieAl’s ini file: The ini file is preconfigured to best suit the other mods in the guide. Step users are encouraged to further tweak the ini as required. The latest versions of lStewieAl’s Tweaks allow edits to be made from within the game – on the title screen simply select “Settings->Tweaks”. The preconfigured ini includes my thoughts on almost every single tweak. Obviously I cannot go in depth explaining each tweak in detail here, but users that want to tweak the difficulty should consider tweaking the following:

  • CustomSkill Points Formula
o  bModifySkillPointsEarned– setting this to 1 enables the tweak
o  fPointsPerInt= 0.500000 – number of skill points gained at level up per point of Intelligence. 0.5 is the vanilla value.
o  iSkillPointBase= 10 - number of skill points gained at level up (base) regardless of Intelligence. 10 is the vanilla value.
o  Thevanilla formula is SkillPoints=10+Int/2
  • CustomPerks Per Level
o  iPerksPerLevel= 0 – setting this to 1 will provide a perk on every level up. 0 reverts to the vanilla 1 perk per 2 level ups.
  •  CustomSpecial Points
o  bCustomSpecialPoints- setting this to 1 enables the tweako  iNumPointsToAllocate= 40 – the number of SPECIAL points to allocate at the start of the game. 40 is the vanilla value.
  • CustomLevel Cap
o  iMaxCharacterLevel– set this to the desired level cap (but do not exceed 100). I like setting this to 36 for a more challenging game (at level 36 the player will have 18 perks in total). Setting it to 0 disables the tweak.
  • DisableFast Travel
o  bDisableFastTravel– setting this to 1 disables fast travel.
  • No Companion Kill HP
o  bNoCompanionKillXP – setting this to 1 prevents the player fromgaining XP from kills attributed to companions.
  • ScaleEarned XP
o  fXPMultiplier=0.9– Setting this to a value lower than 1 decreases the pace at which XP is gained. This is set to 0.9 as per Step’s recommendation. Levelling up in thisgame is actually too fast, so 0.9 seems reasonable. Users that decrease the Level Cap should consider setting the value even lower than 0.9. 1 is the vanilla value (vanilla levelling speed). Increasing the value above 1 is not recommended.
  • Remove the skill requirement prefix from dialog topics
o  bNoSkillTags= 1 – setting this to 1 enables the tweak. This tweak is enabled by default.
o  bRemoveFailedSuccessText– setting this to 1 removes the [SUCCESS] and [FAILED] prefixes before the NPCs' responses. o  bRemoveRedOutline= 1 - setting this to 1 will remove the red color on responses that are bound to fail. This tweak is enabled by default. Step users should get a really good idea on what the outcome will be based on the line of dialogue (the game is pretty immersive).
o  iRemoveTags= 2 – setting this to 0 will display the whole tag with the Skill requirements for success (e.g. [Speech 45/60]); setting it to 1 hides the whole tag. Step has set this to 2 which hides the success requirements, but still shows the skill used for the check.
  • DisableHard-Coded Tutorial Messages
o  bDisableTutorialMessages– setting this to 1 enables the tweak and removes all tutorial messages. Returning players should consider setting this to 1.
