Fallout New Vegas

Below is a duplicate of the readme for WMX-EVE. I've added it as an article here so that people can read it before downloading, and also because the advent of Nexus Mod Manager and its integration into the Nexus website made it possible for people to download and install mods without knowing that their included readme files even exist, let alone how to access them.

On that topic; the original readme can be accessed by opening the file you downloaded using a program like 7-Zip (which is free). The readme can also be found in your Data directory - where the plugin files themselves go - after installation.

Original readme follows:

===============
1. DESCRIPTION
===============

WMX-EVE is a compatibility patch for Weapon Mods Expanded (WMX) and Essential Visual Enhancements (EVE). It resolves conflicts between the two mods, giving both the visual enhancements of EVE and the new/expanded weapon mods of WMX as a result.

===============
2. Requirements
===============

- Fallout New Vegas
- WMX v1.1.4 or later
- EVE v1.17.1 or later

- The different EVE plugins (EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp / EVE FNV - NO DLC.esp / EVE FNV - NO GRA.esp) have different requirements that are inherited by the respective WMX-EVE plugins included in this package.

========================
3. INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION
========================

***Installation***

- The following assumes you have already successfully installed both WMX (see the main WMX readme) and EVE (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42666).

- AUTOMATIC: Add the WMX-EVE package you downloaded to FOMM/NMM and install. WMX-EVE includes a FOMOD menu which will pop up automatically; follow its instructions.

- MANUAL: Using 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org), extract the contents of the WMX-EVE.7z archive file to your \Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\ directory. If asked if you want to overwrite files and folders, click 'Yes to all' (or equivalent for your operating system).

- In the Data Files section of the Fallout New Vegas Launcher - or using a mod manager tool like Fallout Mod Manager - place a tick in the box next to ONLY ONE of the following:
--- WMX-EVE-AllDLC.esp if you are using EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp and the individual WMX-DLC plugins (WMX-DeadMoney.esp, WMX-HonestHearts.esp, etc.)
--- WMX-EVE-AllDLCMerged.esp if you are using EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp and WMX-DLCMerged.esp.
--- WMX-EVE-NoDLC.esp if you are using EVE FNV - NO DLC.esp.
--- WMX-EVE-NoGRA.esp if you are using EVE FNV - NO GRA.esp.

- To be clear, you should be using only one plugin from EVE and one plugin from WMX-EVE.

- Ensure that WMX-EVE-AllDLC.esp /  WMX-EVE-AllDLCMerged.esp /  WMX-EVE-NoDLC.esp / WMX-EVE-NoGRA.esp is loading *after* WeaponModsExpanded.esp, any WMX-DLC plugins you're using and EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp / EVE FNV - NO DLC.esp / EVE FNV - NO GRA.esp.

***Updating from a WMX-EVE version prior to v1.0.5***

- Uninstall the old version of WMX-EVE following its uninstallation instructions (they're basically the same as the instructions below, for reference).

- Be sure to delete the esp file (WMX-EVE.esp) from the old version.

- Install the current version of WMX-EVE following the installation instructions above.

***Uninstallation***

- This covers uninstalling this patch only; not uninstalling WMX or EVE itself (see their respective readmes for that).

- Automatic: In FOMM/NMM, deactivate and delete the WMX-EVE package.

- Manual: In the Data Files section of the Fallout New Vegas Launcher - or using a mod manager tool - clear the tick in the box next to WMX-EVE-AllDLC.esp /  WMX-EVE-AllDLCMerged.esp /  WMX-EVE-NoDLC.esp / WMX-EVE-NoGRA.esp.
- If desired, delete all files copied to your \Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\ directory during installation (check the WMX-EVE.7z archive file to identify these files).

4. PLAYING THE MOD
=====================

Nothing new here; just play as normal.

===============
5. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
===============

Q) Could you make this patch compatible with this other mod/patch I use?
A) Probably not, sorry. See the points regarding compatibility patches in the FAQ in the main WMX readme for more information.

Q) Why is the game crashing/stalling on startup after installing this patch?
A) This is a load order or missing requirements issue. Please follow the installation/update instructions above carefully.

===============
6. SAVE GAMES
===============

- Installing or uninstalling this mod should not have any negative effects on your existing save game/s.

============================
7. CONFLICTS / KNOWN ISSUES
============================

- WMX-EVE will likely conflict with anything that conflicts with WMX or EVE; by default, really.

- With EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp installed, the Laser Pistol (GRA) has holographic sights by default, making its 'Laser Pistol Combat Sights (GRA)' weapon mod redundant. EVE deals with this by removing the ability to apply that weapon mod to the weapon. This has the potential to cause problems (crashes to desktop) with existing savegames however, so WMX-EVE restores the ability to apply that weapon mod. Just be aware that this means that the 'Laser Pistol Combat Sights (GRA)' weapon mod does nothing when applied to the weapon. There's no harm in doing so, but there's also no point.
