Visualise your Skyrim Load Order with Modmapper

  • Comment
If you've ever wanted to know which mods in your load order edit the same places in Skyrim or would like to find a plot for your new house mod that isn't going to conflict with a load of other mods you should check out Modmapper.

Modmapper is a passion project for Skyrim - created by dactyl - which overlays a map of the Skyrim worldspace with data pulled from almost every mod available on Nexus Mods to show which areas (cells) are being edited by the mods plugins.

That's not all, you can also import your plugin list and load order to show a personalised map of all the edits to the world in your load order which is super handy if you're trying to track down conflicts with item placement, terrain or navmesh.

Right now Modmapper can show data on cell edits in the main Skyrim worldspace for Skyrim Special Edition* and Skyrim VR, with dactyl looking into adding maps for the city worldspaces, Solstheim (Dragonborn DLC) and interior cells as future features.

In addition to this, Modmapper has a handy Vortex extension that allows you to simply right-click on a mod or plugin to see the edits on the Modmapper website.

If you would like to know more about Modmapper you can check out the forum thread, feature tracker or source code. You can also support dactyl by sending them a thank you from their profile page

*This tool does not require a specific version of Skyrim SE to work before anyone asks!

You should comment on the extension page, not in this article.

havent tested yet cuz I feel like the upload would take forever, but if it works as intended then that would be an amazing tool to have.
so many problems in locations that I have no idea what mods are involved.

What a fantastic leap forward, though we seriously need this for some of the other Bethesda games (especially Fallout 4, finding out conflicts in such dense spaces is challenging). Glad to see where it's at, and amazingly useful!

Thanks for the work you've done! A very cool project. Tested on LE, works great. I would like extended support for MO2, since some mods can be in the folder with the game and in MO2.

Just tried it out and figured out what mod was changing the landscape conflicting with another mod. I had 65,000+ files and upload was in mere seconds!

I don't think it uploads your actual files (contrary to what the message says!), it just lets the website see a list of files in that directory.

Yes you can. You can upload your own modlist to check things out

I read perfectly fine. You can upload your own plugins.txt and modlist. So you can check the mods you use in your game that effects the cell of choosing

You're missing all the context. The top comment said, "I had 65,000+ files and upload was in mere seconds," implying the belief that the user uploaded their actual gamefiles. Pickysaurus' response was addressing that.

Yeah i see that now. I miss read files part. My bad.

Ofcourse it doesn't upload your files. But it uploads your own complete modlist and plugin.txt.
So that you can check for issues with your own modlist instead of all that is available.
It also works with non-Nexus official plugins that you have in your own modlist.

      Sorry Picky for miss reading

I really wish I could change that message so it doesn't say it's uploading a bajillion files, but it's not configurable. All it is really doing is transferring a list of files from your Data folder to the browser and then the site will only read the .esp/.esm/.esl files. If you drag and drop the Data folder using windows explorer, the message will not show up and the transfer will work faster.
