INTRODUCTION:
This override file adds an anime style cat-girl (or fox girl technically) head and tail model to NWN.

This particular version is specifically an override rather than a hakpack, by popular demand, and so is most useful if you intend to actually play a character using these files. Make sure you read the read me it tells you exactly how to set this up. You will also need a copy of Leto ideally.

Update: There is now a tail pack out, with a suitable tail model.

The character this is based on is from a 3rd party website, basically they looked cute and were suitable for NWN in terms of format (ie. no clipping hairstyle). I don't really know anything about the character (The site was Japanese), name, backstory whatever, I doubt they'd even fit into a game such as NWN. But as experiments go I think it worked out all right.

If animé isn't your thing, or the concept of a cat-girl (Or more precisely fox) freaks you out, this hak really is NOT for you. If you like animé in all its forms though I think you'll like it, anyway have fun ^_^

VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT SKIP!!!!:
Override files work by - yes you guessed it, overriding existing files in NWN. This is useful because it allows you to use these files (ie. custom head appearance) in ANY module you log into, regardless of whether there is the corresponding hakpack installed. In this case for example you could make a fox-girl character and play on any module - even the default campaign, and your character would still have the customised appearance of the fox-girl model.

This all sounds very cool doesn't it?

There are a few slight issues involved though you really need to weigh up. Firstly just because YOU can see it, it doesn't mean other people will. If you made a character using the fox girl override, and logged into a local vault server on the internet where there was neither the override files in use, nor the hakpack version your character, far from having a tail and a cutesy bug eyed head... would have no head at all from everyone else's viewpoint! (You'd still see the head, but nobody else would - Bit like the children's story of 'The Emperors New Robes', it really is in the eye of the beholder). So don't try logging into any online games unless you're certain they are using a hakpack that contains the kitty head/tail model.

The next issue is that if you join a game/play a single player module, that has a hakpack that clashes with your model (ie. it has a head already taking spot 28) your corresponding body part will be overridden by the hakpack, so on one particular model with a clashing error your cutesy fox girl head may get replaced by say ... a skeleton's head - or worse! So the system isn't 100% foolproof (The files however are padded enough this eventuality is pretty unlikely).

Finally, and the most serious issue is that overrides WILL cause instability, say for example there is a 1% chance of crashing at any given time, add a an override and it'll go up to maybe 2%. While only small, *overrides may crash the game!*, you've been warned, so don't take it out on me if the game mysteriously crashes on you. In my experience though the added fun factor of custom character's far outweighs the minor niggle of the occasional crash.

INSTALLATION:

Installing the Override:

Step 1:
Extract the contents of the zip file this readme came in, into the "override" directory of NWN

Step 2:
Actually that's all there is to it.

USING THE OVERRIDES:

The overrides are now packed in, if you run the toolset unless a hak file is overriding them they will show up regardless of anything else, you don't need to add a hakpack or anything and they are (Generally) cross compatible with hakpacks.

The best way to use override files on your own character is to use Leto, which is a very powerful character editor. To edit your character's appearance just follow the below steps - if you don't have Leto get it here.

Step 1:
It is highly advisable you create a new character to do this, when creating your character choose the hair and skin colour as usual, and where it says "tattoo 1" choose your eye colour. Race do not matter at this point, so choose whichever racial you feel is appropriate. Otherwise you'll probably be stuck with brown eyes unless you had a tattoo already where god knows what colour they may come out.

Step 2:
Open Leto. Click "Menu -> Tools -> Advanced editor"

Step 3:
Click Right Mouse Button on the white background of the Leto window, and choose "Open file"

Step 4:
Browse to the "localvault" folder in your NWN folder (typically C:/Neverwinter Nights/localvault")

Step 5:
Find the character to edit, if your character was called 'Jane Doe' the file will be called 'JaneDoe.bic' If there are several files with a similar name find the version with the biggest number on the end and double click the file.

Step 6:
WHOA! - Come back here and stop trying to run away, it's just numbers, follow the steps and you'll be fine ok? Alright then, first it helps if you maxmise the window so you can see more.

Step 7:
Scroll down the list and read what each line says, look at the below list, and when you find the appropriate line, change the number on the far right hand side to the number I've listed below (Change what is in it by first clicking on the name on the left, then double clicking the box on the far right and typing into it)

NameValueWhy
Appearance_Type3Give you a Halfling visual (Head only works on Halfling-size critters)
Appearance_Head28Change your head to the kitty head
BodyPart_Belt22Add a fake 'tail' to your character's butt

Step 8:
Click "Save file", and save over the file you opened originally (ie. JaneDoe.bic), it'll say this isn't advisable, but just ignore them and overwrite it.

Step 9:
There - it's all over and you're done. You character now not only looks like an anime cat-girl (or Fox technically), but they retain this appearance even if you change your outfit, or even take off all your clothing. The tail only shows up if there is no "belt" on your outfit, but that's life I'm afraid.

I can also be caught occasionally on the CODI IRC chatroom (City of Doors Initiative), although due to the fact I have no phone line I'm rarely seen playing
on NWN for the time being.

[Warning, Blatant Advert]
I should probably point out I'm currently not in any position of employment, if you're looking for budding 3D modellers to fill a place on a professional
