  • Empire

    The Imperial Overhaul draws heavy influence from the Byzantine Empire under the rule of the Komnenos which lasted from 1081 to 1185. As such it perfectly fit the scope of the mod. It also draws some minor influence from the Late Western Roman Empire and some very minor influence from Ancient Macedon for some troop names.  

    This was by far the most complex overhaul to make as it was difficult to "get right" - and I am still not certain I did. I did much more extensive research for this particular overhaul due to the bizarre lack of information on specific military equipment of various Byzantine Troops.

    The Seven Scimitars of the Shifting Sands are a collection of seven sultans from the deep south of Calradia, who have come north to end the reign of Sultan Unqid of the Aserai. They disagree with the methods of Unqid, who uses the Banu Asera to his advantage, whenever he feels like it and they demand retribution.

  • Population model

    Population models changes how family (hearth) or family (prosperity) changes daily.

    With realistic population models, the growth of hearth and prosperity is significantly reduced. Population decides settlement income and levy/recruit size. Low population settlement is not worth much owning considering you need to guard the settlement with soldiers. It will make sense now to protect villages during raid.

    Median Medieval France/Germany household population is about 6, this includes two house heads (father and mother). That means each family (hearth) has 4 children. Assuming children take 18 years to grow to be able to join workforce/army. Given each year in bannerlord has 4 season, and each season has 30 days.

    Initial research quickly showed me that the armor at the time (late 1100's) rarely consisted of anything more than mail, and even that was only for warriors of a certain pedigree. Furthermore, because of armor technology of the time, few soldiers ventured into battle without a shield. As a result, the bulk of the army consisted of spear infantry which acted as fodder and as the anvil at the same time.

  • Complains and issues related to wanderer recruitment by NPC lords in useful companions.

    Introduction :

    Since version 0.2.0 NPC lords can recruits wanderers just the same way players could, and if all previous features were welcomed by all the users (with only a really small minority asking already to take out a few features), this one made people complain a lot on the mod's comment page.

    You have followed Step 1 of the lesson an created your own module
    You have a proper XML editor (I recommend Visual Studio 2019)

    For this fist part of the custom items tutorial I will focus on the "simple" items. Items that do not contain custom crafting pieces and do not require custom crafting templates such as armor, horses, bows or shields.

  • Putting the Project on Hold until the game Stabilizes

    Hello everyone,

    I have had a lot of fun working on this mod but I am going to have to pause this project temporarily because the game is updating too fast for my work to be viable. I will however be brainstorming how to best implement my ideas and making detailed plans on exactly how my ideas will manifest themselves in the game. Additionally I am always happy to receive some suggestions or feedback through PM and I will still be checking my PMs and the mod page. Hopefully some of the features which I want to implement will be already in the game by the time I resume modding as this would help a lot. This is part of the reason why I dont want to continue modding the game in its current state: I dont want to make something that will be implemented in the game later anyway. Peace...
