About this mod

Changes tier 1 recruit equipment rosters

Permissions and credits
This mod changes the equipment rosters for the Tier 1 Recruits present in the base game's 6 cultures.

This is a save friendly mod, so feel free to install/uninstall at any time.

I leave it to your discretion to determine if it is compatible or not with other troop mods you may have. Again this only mods Tier 1 Recruits, no other troops.

In the base game recruits are something of a downgrade from Tier 0 Peasants (lower skills, no throwing rocks, higher upkeep, etc.) The goal of this mod is to make recruits somewhat more viable fighters by giving them appropriate low tier military weapons and shields. Basically the essentials you'd expect a volunteer to equip themselves with before going into battle. This will allow you to engage more bandit types than just Looters at the start of the game, provided you have an appropriate numerical advantage.

Approximately 2 out of 5 recruits will come equipped with low quality shields. This allows the front line to absorb some missile damage,  which means a few recruits can at least reach an enemy archer line. However recruits are still pretty vulnerable to missile fire as most lack shields and they have no armor to speak of really. So don't get too emboldened as recruits are still pretty poor and vulnerable fighters.

This will also help later in the game by making armies with lots of recruits slightly less trashy. Though to be perfectly honest you'll hardly be able to tell the difference in most battles. Basically recruits won't be completely free kills for archers is all. I believe the game should be primarily balanced around upkeep costs, so if you have 50 Tier 1 Recruits (2 gold upkeep) versus 34 Tier 2 Archers (3 gold upkeep), either side should be able to win with the right tactics in a fair engagement.

I will likely be releasing a complete troop revision mod in the near future that will incorporate this as well

To manually install simply extract the folder to your Bannerlord Modules folder (for most Steam users C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules) and enable in the mod list when you launch the game.
