Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

About this mod

Over 70 mods integrated to give you the best Bannerlord experience. This modular modlist guide gives you the depth that the vanilla game mechanics lack. A focus on balance, realism and lore-friendly roleplaying elements has been considered. No longer will the late game feel dull, nor will the start of the game force you to play in a certain way.

Permissions and credits
Hey everyone! thanks for your support. Unfortunately I don't have the time to update this modlist, however anyone can pick up and carry where I left off if they so wish.

Oldrim's
Modlist for Bannerlord 1.8.0

The video and images included showcase some of the mod functionality included in this modlist guide.

In summary, this guide allows you to overhaul pretty much all aspects of the game. Gameplay, mechanics that add flavour and strategy to the game, visuals and quality of life mods have all been detailed in this guide. Included as well are patches for common crashes and bugs incurred in version 1.8.0 of the game. This guide is entirely modular, meaning you can pick and choose which mods you want. As stated in the title, this modlist guide is intended for Bannerlord 1.8.0. Do not worry about mod conflicts. All mods listed here work well with each other (extensive testing has been done to ensure minimal crashing).

Before starting
Read everything. Every single word in my guide is important. It is not difficult at all but if you don't take the time to read and apply everything, something will go wrong. If you have a question do not hesitate to ask it on the Posts tab, but please make sure you have read through the guide thoroughly and consulted the Troubleshooting section first, especially if you have a problem, because most of the time the solution is written here.

Modlist is intended for manual installations (do not use Vortex).

Install Instructions
While going through the mods, you will notice there are three colors (Green, Yellow and Blue) for install instructions.

- Green means that installation is simple, you just go to the files tab in a mod and download the main file (always one file), then install to your modules folder. (very simple).

- Yellow means there might be more than one file in the mod main files and requires another step or two to ensure successful installation. Pay attention to which file version you are installing in the mod files when you see this color.

- Blue means there are several steps that require your full attention. Read carefully.

Most errors will occur because users will fail to adhere to the blue and yellow instructions.

Do not worry about your load order. Dedicated load order instructions have been given for after you've finished installing all the mods you like in the guide.

For each mod, I have included a short description of what they do in a nutshell. If you want more info on a mod, click on the links provided.

SECTIONS YOU CAN SKIP

New Modders
- If you have experience with installing Bannerlord mods, then skip the New Modders section.

NSFW - Ignore the NSFW section if you're not into that sort of thing.

Before beginning, please ensure you have a vanilla install of Bannerlord 1.8.0 with NO mods installed. To make sure this is the case, go to your Bannerlord/modules folder and ensure you only have the following modules:

- Native
- SandBox Core
- Sandbox
- Custom Battle
- Story Mode
- Birth and Death Options

If you have a different version of Bannerlord other than 1.8.0, revert by using the Steam betas function and then validate your game files to ensure no conflicts arise.

I know that was a mouthful but that's it! You're ready to start modding.

You belong in this section if you have no idea what you're doing or haven't installed a Bannerlord mod before manually.

Here's the basics. While going through this modlist you will see me refer to the 'modules' folder. This can be located in your root Bannerlord folder. For example Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord/Modules. Most mods need to be extracted here.

Let's go through an example together.

""
Mod Example < click here >
Mod Description

Install main file into modules folder

""

The install instructions is asking you to install the main file into your modules folder. See the below example.

In this scenario, we have a mod called True Sieges. You need to click on the MANUAL DOWNLOAD button. Afterwards, you will have a ZIP file. Go into this zip file and you will find the folder named 'Modules'. This is very important as a lot of mods vary in their file entries. For example, if the extraction folder starts with 'Modules' then you need to only drop that folder into your Bannerlord root folder.

The other common variation, however, is that instead of the Modules folder it comes with the mod itself. For example, if you click into the modules folder for the mod we just installed then you will see a folder called TrueSieges. Mods will come in this variation as well, WITHOUT a modules folder. In this scenario you need to extract the folder INTO your modules folder, NOT your Bannerlord root folder. See the below image.

Those are the only two variations you should encounter while going through the modlist. Make sure to remember this!

That's it! You're ready to start modding. :D

- Once you click finish and it loads you into the game, save the game and exit

This only needs to be done once per campaign. make sure to tailor the MCM settings for the mods to your liking. Do not enable Ironman mode. Doing so will constrict you to a single save file which can get bugged causing you to lose all your progress.

Known Issues

Spoiler:
Show

Vanilla Crashes
some crashes being reported are Vanilla-caused crashes, has nothing to do with the mods. With that being said, the patches included do their best to resolve said crashes.

Bannerlord Version
Use 1.8.0, not 1.8.1

Moreover, please ensure mod versions are for 1.8.0

Calradia Expanded
Fixed: day/night cycle working again
Fixed: two villages locations being funky, Takor and Lavenia now working as they should be
Fixed: lots of bridges being in the right places.
Fixed: two Akisers bug

Added: lots of detail work has now been readded. It was removed due to crashing in older versions.

Known Issue: a bunch of trees don't show up
Known Issue: Some buildings are sunk a bit below ground level
Known Issue: Skybox is misaligned
Known Issue: a floating desert village (being looked at)

Ensure you have the latest version. If it doesn't allow you to enable the mod in BUTRLoader, go to CE's submodule.xml file and delete decimals after '1.8.0' for the Native, SandboxCore, Sandbox and Storymode dependencies. It should look like this after you're done

<DependedModule DependentVersion="e1.8.0." Id="Native"/>
<DependedModule DependentVersion="e1.8.0." Id="SandBoxCore"/>
<DependedModule DependentVersion="e1.8.0." Id="Sandbox"/>
<DependedModule DependentVersion="e1.8.0." Id="StoryMode"/>

Calradia Expanded Kingdoms
crash occurs whenever player goes into battle with Apolssaly faction troops. For now use auto resolve (let the AI battle itself) until it's fixed.

Captivity Events
Because of the skills CE adds, most of the vigor skill options in the character menu might be blocked from view. To resolve this, simply click on the vigor skills you want to learn more about or upgrade and they will show on the right-hand side.

Serve as a Soldier
- Serve as a Soldier mod is known to cause crashes in some instances. save regularly when part of a lord's army as a soldier. crashes seem to have reduced with the new load order logic (see logs).
- Not only is Serve as a Soldier incompatible with Bannerkings, it also comes with its' own set of crashes. Use this mod at your own discretion.

Smithy Crash
Users who crash when interacting with Smithy, ensure all three Open Source Armory modules are loaded AFTER RBM in load order.

Harmony Fonts
If this mod is greyed out for you, replace the mod name in your modules to HarmonyOS Hans Font

Periodic Crashes
While I've done my best to extensively test the game with all mods installed, I might have not caught some crashes. If you have read through the modlist from A to Z and crash from an issue not addressed here, then please feel free to post about it in the Bugs section. Please use the mod Better Exception Window to detail the crash.

Story Mode and Custom Battles
Story Mode and the Custom Battles options in main menu will crash the game. This modlist only works with the SANDBOX mode.

Serve as a Soldier = unstable (causes crashing)

To find which mod causes crashing load them 10 at a time until you get your crash. Those last 10 mods contain the crash, go through the 10 one by one to find the culprit.
