EDIT : THIS MOD IS CURRENTLY NOT WORKING AS INTENDED
Here is a replacement though that works properly :
Modifiable Armor modifiers at Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

Are you tired of your horse having literally better armor than your character?
Of seeing leather armor that's more protective than plate?

Of arrows piercing heavy armor at its strongest point without issue?
Then this is the mod for you.

/!\ IMPORTANT :

Put it after "Custom Damage" in the mod list!

/Compatible with 1.3.0 and 1.4.0\

Don't forget to unblock the XML and DLL files in the module. Two have to be unblocked : SubModule.xml and spitems.xml otherwise you will get a crash ! To unblock, right click on the file, select properties, and unblock.

CHANGES :

  • Medium and Heavy Helmets are stronger. Historically, helmets were one of the most important parts of an armor, often using very thick plates to make sure arrows won't penetrate it since that would be the wearer's death. As such, in the current version, helmets of Medium and Heavy category get +10 armor
  • Mail and Plate gauntlets and leg armors are stronger. Arm and Leg armors that are made of either Chainmail or Plate get +10 armor.
  • Better Armor Values : Edited "Questionnable Armor Values"
  • Uses a Custom Damage setting, editing the protectiveness calculations of armor. Armor is generally more protective against all types of damage, especially glaive and menavlion cause less damage to armored units.

Those modifications mean that Mail and Plate armor feel really like Elite-grade armor, clearly stronger than cloth and leather armor. Heavy armor will be moreresilient to arrows, and your Bannerlord will be able to be as well protected as the horse he rides (finally !).

HOW TO INSTALL :

First, make sure you have Custom Damage installed!

1 - Unzip into the modules folder,
2 - Unblock all the files (SubModule.xml and spitems.xml) with Right Click - Properties - Unblock. Make sure to do it for both files !
3 - Enable through the launcher

COMPATIBILITY :

It's compatible with the most common current mods. As long as they don't edit armor or weapon stats (spitems.xml), there should be no issue!

RECOMMENDED MODS :

HealthRebalance ; I don't recommend the 200 health setting, in my opinion it makes unarmored troop too much into HP bags (taking three sword thrust to their unarmored neck to die). However the 125 is a good option for those who want even more resilience. It is 100% compatible with this mod. :)

Ranged Rebalanced : Great not only for tweaking ranged combat, making it more balanced but also expanding on it with new arrow varieties. Also makes arrow damage cutting, therefore less effective against armor.

DIFFERENCES WITH SIMILAR MODS :

  • Armor Does Something : Armor Does Something adds +10 to all chest and arm armors that have more than 10 protection ; which includes cloth chest pieces. It does not make helmets or leg armors stronger. It also changes bow and stone damage to cutting.
Real Armor does not change chest pieces. I felt that character's chest can already be very well protected, combining shoulder and chest armor. However Real Armor adds +10 to Medium & Heavy Head armors, and +10 to Chain and Plate Leg and Arm armors. I also left arrows on piercing, and stones on blunt damage.

  • Ranged Weapons Rebalanced : Edits bow and arrows damage, while making bows and arrows deal cutting damage. As such, bows and arrows become less effective against armor.
Real Armor approaches the ranged-balance issue in a different way ; making armor stronger rather than bows weaker against armor.
