Settlement improvements seem to take forever to build in Bannerlord. Even with a governor with engineer skill, the pace of improvement building is sluggish at best. Coupled with the new loyalty penalties it’s a wonder anything ever gets build at all.

I have an engineer and over a thousand men in my army. When I stay in a town with them, all they do it take up space. Why can’t I put them to work? The Romans built bridges, fortifications and roads pretty much everywhere they went. I see no reason why my men can’t help build a damn granary.

This fully configurable mod will add a bonus to construction when you stay in a settlement with your army. There are two bonuses applied, one for your engineer and one for the manpower in your army. Both bonuses will be listed together as “Player Army Bonus” in the mouseover popup on the manage settlement window.

The engineer bonus is based on the skill of your engineer. For each point of skill you will receive a configurable number of construction points (sometimes referred to as bricks). The default value is 0.25 bricks per skill point. If you don’t have anyone assigned as your engineer, you do not get this bonus. In the mod’s config file this bonus is listed as BricksPerEngineerSkillPoint.

The army bonus is based on the number of healthy troops in the army you have with you. By army I mean to total number of men under your command, including any parties that have joined you in an army. You will receive a construction point for each configurable amount of men. The default is one brick for every 4 men in your army. If you had 100 men you would receive 25 constructions points for an army bonus using the default value. In the mod’s config file this bonus is listed as MenPerBrick.

The mod’s configuration file is UseYourArmyToBuildImprovements.txt and it is located in the same folder as the mod’s DLL file. The valid range for BricksPerEngineerSkillPoint is from 0 to 2.0 inclusive. The valid range for MenPerBrick is 0.1 to 100 inclusive. Out of range values will be ignored.

This mod also makes the minimum loyalty needed for construction configurable. The game’s default is 25 which I felt was too high. Since this value is referenced in the same code, I added it to this mod. The value is MinimumLoyaltyThreshold and the mods default value for it is 10. This will affect all settlements in the game, whether you own them or not. The player army bonus will still be applied even if this threshold is not met as your men are 100% loyal.

You will need to wait in a settlement with your army for this bonus to have any effect. It takes time to build improvements and the player army bonus is applied to the construction during the settlement’s daily tick event. It works just like the bonus for settlement construction workshops.
